EVALUACIÓN DEL DOLOR A TRAVÉS DE LA PRUEBA DE BOSTON EN LA ARTICULACIÓN RADIOCARPIANA EN ODONTÓLOGOS

| dc.description | El Síndrome del Túnel Carpiano es una condición inflamatoria causada por movimientos repetitivos, que comprime el nervio mediano y provoca síntomas como dolor, hormigueo y entumecimiento en la mano.(1) En odontólogos, se asocia a las demandas biomecánicas y el uso de instrumental que genera vibraciones.(2) El cuestionario de Boston se destaca como herramienta eficaz para la detección temprana de esta condición.(3) Este estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar la evaluación del dolor a través de la prueba de Boston en la articulación radiocarpiana en odontólogos. Estudio de tipo no experimental con enfoque cuantitativo, utilizó diseño transversal aplicando el Cuestionario de Boston a 30 odontólogos, seleccionados por conveniencia según criterios de inclusión y exclusión. Se recopiló la información mediante historias clínicas y el cuestionario, evaluando factores labores y extracurriculares relacionados con el dolor en la articulación radio carpiana. Los datos se sistematizaron en Excel y SPSS para análisis estadítico. Se obtuvo como resultado que los odontólogos presentan baja prevalencia de dolor, mayormente breve y esporádico, con una minoría reportando casos constantes. El dolor se asocia con jornadas largas y especialidades como cirugía y rehabilitación oral. Además, se necesitan pruebas clínicas complementarias al cuestionario para determinar la patología. | |
| dc.description.abstract | Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is an inflammatory condition caused by repetitive movements, which compresses the median nerve and causes symptoms such as pain, tingling and numbness in the hand.(1) In dentists, it is associated with biomechanical demands and the use of instruments that generate vibrations.(2) The Boston questionnaire stands out as an effective tool for the early detection of this condition.(3) This study aimed to determine the evaluation of pain through the Boston test in the radiocarpal joint in dentists. Non-experimental study with a quantitative approach, used a cross-sectional design applying the Boston Questionnaire to 30 dentists, selected by convenience according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Information was collected through medical records and the questionnaire, evaluating work and extracurricular factors related to pain in the radiocarpal joint. The data were systematized in Excel and SPSS for statistical analysis. The results showed that dentists have a low prevalence of pain, mostly brief and sporadic, with a minority reporting constant cases. Pain is associated with long work days and specialties such as surgery and oral rehabilitation. In addition, clinical tests complementary to the questionnaire are needed to determine the pathology. | |
