Abstract
The present investigation intends to establish in what way the types of families influence the psychomotor development of children from 3 to 4 years old, in the Héroes del 95 Private Educational Unit located in the Izamba parish of the Ambato Canton. To fulfill this objective, a registration sheet was applied to 25 parents or legal representatives of the children. In addition, the Psychomotor Development Test (TEPSI) of Haeussler & Marchant (2009) was used as an evaluation instrument for the child population. The results were analyzed statistically by the Chi-square test. Obtaining that the family structure does not significantly affect the psychomotor development of children aged 3 to 4 years in this study.

La presente investigación pretende establecer de qué manera los tipos de familias influyen en el desarrollo psicomotor de niños y niñas de 3 a 4 años, en la Unidad Educativa Particular Héroes del 95 ubicada en la parroquia Izamba del Cantón Ambato. Para cumplir este objetivo se aplicó una hoja de registro a 25 padres o representantes legales de los niños y niñas. Además, se utilizó como instrumentó de evaluación el Test de desarrollo psicomotor (TEPSI) de Haeussler & Marchant (2009) a la población infantil. Los resultados fueron analizados estadísticamente mediante la prueba del Chi- cuadrado. Obteniendo que la estructura familiar no incide significativamente en el desarrollo psicomotor de niños y niñas de 3 a 4 años en este estudio.
