Resumen : At the beginning of the project, information was researched on preliminary microzonation studies, with the objective of use selected points of these works and corroborating the information presented to have a starting point. A macro project was established to cover 4 areas of the city of Ambato and increase the sample size of the research. To get started the technical part, a route view was made identifying the 40 points selected for the trials, which 10 were divided for each area. The tests were carried out in the field and in turn samples were taken of the points destined to perform laboratory tests contemplating the index and mechanical properties. With the results obtained through the tests, the information was processed by software using the least squares statistical system for the formation of regressions and correlations, which served to establish simple and multiple correlations. The main subjects to form variables were the index and mechanical properties, the electrical resistivity and the California Bearing Ratio (CBR) test. Correlation coefficients that meet more than 50 percent were selected and found, coefficients did not reach this value were discarded. Finally, 30 correlations were selected having values of correlation coefficients R2 ranging from 50 to 92 percent, indicating that the electrical resistivity method is a trustworthy, efficient and economical option to evaluate properties of granular soils.
