Abstract

The walker has been used by mothers since it facilitates their work at home, at the same time several studies have described that its use is not good for the development of children. Considering this background, a descriptive study was carried out, with the use of a questionnaire addressed to parents who attended the Institute of Social Security IESS of Ambato, information was obtained about the use of the walker in their children; where 50 parents provided positive responses; and the Bayley Infant Development Scale was applied, which allowed to evaluate aspects of the development of motor skills, to this an association was made giving the use of the walker in ages of 10 to 12 months affects the process of acquisition or evolution of the skills and motor skills that must be achieved in that age, results statistically proven by the Chi2. Therefore, the research was of great importance to give recommendations to parents who were informed about this controversial topic.
