Item type:Ítem, Diseño de anteproyecto arquitectónico de rehabilitación de la estación del ferrocarril sector Ingahurco, Ambato(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE ARQUITECTURA, 2026-07-07) ;Jácome Mise Cristina Belén ;Castro Martín Verónica AlexandraUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE ARQUITECTURAThe train station in the parish of Ingahurco, formerly a historical, cultural, and tourist hub of the city of Ambato, is currently in a state of complete neglect, resulting in damage to the infrastructure and a lack of functional uses that meet the needs of the community. This has led to severe problems of insecurity, vandalism, illegal occupation, and, above all, a loss of heritage value. Internationally, various organizations have identified similar cases, which negatively impact on the community and its identity. Nationally, two significant examples are the Chimbacalle and Durán train stations, which demonstrate the absence of policies to support their preservation. Specifically in the parish of Ingahurco, the train station has become a clear case of heritage and urban risk related to a lack of appropriate management. Studying this problem is relevant because it presents an opportunity to rescue this space, increase security, and simultaneously revitalize the city's tourist and cultural identity. To develop this topic, a qualitative research approach using a case study methodology is proposed, connecting with physical and heritage study. The expected results include a general diagnosis of the building's current state, an analysis of the urban and social environment, a distinction of uses within the station, and a proposed architectural design that is functional and meets the community's needs. Likewise, the aim is to create guidelines that ensure its conservation and reintegration as a community space for the parish. In conclusion, this research aspires to enhance the heritage and contribute to the urban planning of Ambato.Item type:Ítem, Diseño de Anteproyecto Arquitectónico de Centro Cultural en el Cantón Cevallos, Tungurahua(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE ARQUITECTURA, 2026-07-06) ;Guaita Morales Andy Jose ;Heredia Gamboa AndrésUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE ARQUITECTURAThis paper presents the preliminary architectural design for the Cultural Center of the Cevallos canton, Tungurahua province. Cevallos is a canton with a tradition in the footwear industry, fruit growing, and agritourism; however, it lacks sociocultural facilities for artistic creation and community engagement. This deficit excludes women, children, youth, and senior citizens due to the concentration of sports facilities in the area. The justification for this project rests on the 6.32% achievement of the sociocultural goals of the 2023-2027 Territorial Development Plan (PDOT) and the need to align cantonal planning with Sustainable Development Goal 11 of the 2030 Agenda, which focuses on inclusive and sustainable cities. The research adopts a qualitative approach with inductive logic, conceptualizing it within the principles of Frampton's (1983) critical regionalism and the analysis of cultural references at the international, national, and local levels. The techniques applied include field observation, interviews with local stakeholders, and a review of regulations that support the project. The operationalized variables encompass volumetric adaptation, vernacular materials, passive bioclimatic strategies, and universal accessibility. Ultimately, the resulting proposal consists of a preliminary design that integrates architectural plans, a functional program derived from the needs assessment, bioclimatic strategies, and spatial visualizations, all aimed at strengthening the sociocultural cohesion of the canton through architecture that engages with the Andean landscape, the topography of the site, and its local context..Item type:Ítem, Diseño de Anteproyecto arquitectónico de centro de inclusión intergeneracional en la parroquia de Huachi Grande, Ambato(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA ARQUITECTURA, 2026-07-03) ;Pazmiño Toapanta Alex Xavier ;Carranco Muñoz Jose MiguelUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA ARQUITECTURAThe present work develops the "Preliminary architectural design of an intergenerational inclusion center in the Huachi Grande parish, Ambato", conceived as a focal point to promote integration and interaction between older adults and children. The design, beyond addressing the lack of support facilities, is a direct response to the human need for companionship, combatting the segregation suffered by these priority groups. The design methodology applied is a Shared Site strategy based on functional spatial planning, which defines six functional zones: access and administration, early childhood development center (CDI) area, older adult geriatric area, intergenerational gathering space, complementary services, and outdoor spaces.Item type:Ítem, Diseño de anteproyecto arquitectónico de un Centro Cultural de Danzantes de Corpus Christi, Pujilí, Cotopaxi, Ecuador(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA ARQUITECTURA, 2026-07-03) ;Guashca Tocumbe Freddy Rolando ;Molina Dueñas Víctor HugoUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA ARQUITECTURAThe Pujilí canton, province of Cotopaxi, Ecuador, concentrates one of the most representative intangible manifestations of the country: the Dancer of Corpus Christi, declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Nation. Despite this, the canton lacks permanent cultural facilities, so the production of costumes, the practice of dance and the custody of ceremonial objects depend on domestic, religious and festive spaces. Zambrano's (2022) inventory warns that the intergenerational transmission of the ritual reaches only 52% of valuation, while the Development and Territorial Planning Plan of the Pujilí canton 2021-2026 confirms the absence of specialized cultural infrastructure. The idea to defend argues that the design of a cultural architectural preliminary project, based on the reinterpretation of the symbolic elements of the ritual of the Corpus Christi Dancer, can constitute an active instrument for the intergenerational preservation of the intangible cultural heritage of the canton. The research adopts a mixed qualitative-quantitative method with a projectual approach, based on Groat and Wang (2013), structured in four phases: identification of the need in the cantonal PDOT; analysis of how to respond with a preliminary project; expert validation using the Delphi method with semi-structured interviews; and triangulation of criteria to produce project guidelines. The main result is the preliminary project of the Cultural Center of Dancers, organized around the central courtyard that links four areas of equal weight — production, practice, exhibition and services), structured according to Gadamer's hermeneutics and the principle of culture as a determinant of form by Rapoport (2003).Item type:Ítem, Diseño del anteproyecto arquitectónico de un edificio residencial multifamiliar en la parroquia de Ficoa-Ambato, documentado bajo la metodología BIM(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO, FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA, CARRERA DE ARQUITECTURA, 2026-07-01) ;Corella Cobos Josué Germán ;Lara Orellana Fausto AndrésUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO, FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA, CARRERA DE ARQUITECTURAThis thesis focuses on the architectural design of a multifamily residential building located in Ficoa parish, Ambato city, as a response to current urban densification processes and the need to improve habitability conditions in collective housing. The proposal arises from a context characterized by accelerated residential growth, limited spatial planning, and insufficient incorporation of environmental comfort criteria in existing developments. The research follows a qualitative approach with a descriptive scope, structured in three methodological phases: bibliographic and documentary review, contextual analysis through on-site observation and environmental studies, and data collection through semi-structured interviews with professionals in the field. The findings highlight the importance of integrating design strategies focused on spatial efficiency, regulatory compliance, cross ventilation, natural lighting, and urban context integration. The architectural proposal is based on the definition of a design concept that articulates functionality, contextual integration, sustainability, and constructive feasibility. The project proposes a mid-rise volumetric configuration with an efficient organization of housing units, incorporating balconies and solar control elements to enhance living quality. Additionally, Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodology is implemented to develop a coordinated digital model, improving interdisciplinary integration, technical documentation accuracy, and compliance with municipal requirements. Overall, the proposal represents a comprehensive response to contemporary multifamily housing demands, providing applicable design criteria for similar urban contexts.Item type:Ítem, Diseño de Anteproyecto Arquitectónico de una Plaza de Rastro, Guanujo, Guaranda, Bolívar, Ecuador.(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO, FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA, CARRERA DE ARQUITECTURA, 2026-07-01) ;Yumbay Agualongo Awky Jesus ;Molina Dueñas Víctor HugoUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO, FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA, CARRERA DE ARQUITECTURAThe Guanujo livestock market has been operating for years in a location that was never meant for it. Sitting in a consolidated residential area, just steps from the Universidad Estatal de Bolívar, the market generates chaos on fair days: heavy trucks, cattle, and neighbors sharing the same space with no infrastructure to manage the flow. There is no biosecurity, no effluent treatment, and the Canton Guaranda Territorial Development Plan 2023-2027 acknowledges this openly by listing the construction of a new livestock market as a strategic cantonal project. The objective was to design the architectural preliminary project for that new market in the Sinchig Sunicocha sector, Guanujo parish, on a 71,126.64 m² plot. The research combined direct observation on fair days, semi-structured interviews using the Delphi method with five stakeholders directly involved in the problem, and documentary analysis. Findings from all three instruments were triangulated to produce design criteria with verifiable support. The preliminary project draws on Frampton's Critical Regionalism and Fontana-Giusti's reading of space as a sanitary device based on Foucault. The architectural concept organizes the site through three circuits that never intersect: heavy vehicle, livestock, and pedestrian-commercial. The program includes 64 species-differentiated corral modules, an independent-access quarantine zone with a slaughterhouse and veterinary area, an administrative zone, a commercial corridor with 25 stands, 12 food stalls, and a Child Development Center. The results confirmed that certifiable biosecurity and local identity are not mutually exclusive. A market that meets AGROCALIDAD standards can still be the community gathering space that the Guanujo fair has always been.Item type:Ítem, Diseño de anteproyecto arquitectónico de una granja interpretativa orientada a la enseñanza de producción sostenible en el cantón Píllaro(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO, FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA, CARRERA DE ARQUITECTURA, 2026-07-01) ;Ramos Medina Maria Gabriela ;Lara AndrésUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO, FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA, CARRERA DE ARQUITECTURAThis thesis addresses the need to strengthen sustainable agricultural production in the Santiago de Píllaro canton, Tungurahua province. This need arose from an analysis of the guidelines established in the canton's Territorial Planning Plan, which identified a lack of spaces dedicated to disseminating agroecological practices. Píllaro is a territory where the economy is based on agricultural activities. This situation limits the transfer of sustainable agricultural techniques among local producers, students, and the community. In response to this problem, this thesis project proposes the architectural design of an interpretive farm focused on teaching sustainable practices and fostering community interaction. The research methodology included a review and analysis of the canton's territorial and regulatory documentation, an analysis of national and international references, field observation, and user analysis. Students and faculty from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the Technical University of Ambato, as well as local and visiting agricultural producers, were taken into consideration. The preliminary architectural design was based on the integration of education, production, and community interaction spaces through modules organized around meeting areas and interpretive circulation paths. Furthermore, based on the analyzed precedents, it was possible to implement implementation strategies related to natural ventilation and lighting, efficient water management, and the use of materials appropriate to the context.Item type:Ítem, Diseño de Anteproyecto Arquitectónico de una Casa de Acogida para Mujeres Víctimas de Violencia Intrafamiliar en el Cantón Guaranda(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA ARQUITECTURA, 2026-07-01) ;Carballo Villa Maria Alejandra ;Obando CarolinaUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA ARQUITECTURAThis degree project proposes the design of a preliminary architectural plan for a shelter for women who are victims of domestic violence in the Guaranda canton, Bolívar province. The project addresses a need for specialized facilities to care for vulnerable groups within the canton, as evidenced by the misuse of police facilities as temporary shelters, which do not provide acceptable conditions for maintaining the privacy and livability of the victims. The main objective is to develop a safe and suitable environment that aids in the victims’ transition toward autonomy, applying various theoretical guidelines regarding social protection architecture. The research adopts a qualitative and deductive-analytical approach, grounded in the study of architectural references, regulations, interviews with a network of key stakeholders, and a physical-environmental assessment of the site where the proposal is to be implemented. The results indicate the need to implement strategies based on protected domesticity, sensory justice, and environmental comfort. The proposal is guided by the concept of rebirth, which proposes a fragmented volumetry on a domestic scale, while also integrating transitional zoning and a hierarchy among spaces through a gradient of privacy, interior courtyards, and circulation paths that articulate and shape the entire project. The proposed materials, combined with the bioclimatic design, create an environment that ensures physical safety through the principles of defensible space and serves as a resource for the psychological and holistic recovery of the residents.Item type:Ítem, Diseño de Anteproyecto Arquitectónico de un Centro Ambulatorio Terapéutico en la ¨Fundación para Personas Discapacitadas de San José de Huambaló”, Pelileo, Tungurahua(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA DE ARQUITECTURA, 2026-01-19) ;Medina Rodriguez Domenica Michelle ;Molina Dueñas Víctor HugoUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA DE ARQUITECTURAThis graduation project focuses on the need to improve care conditions for people with disabilities in rural areas of Ecuador, due to persistent gaps in accessibility, infrastructure, and the availability of specialised services. In the parish of Huambaló, these limitations restrict rehabilitation processes, autonomy, and social inclusion, highlighting the importance of developing facilities that comply with universal accessibility standards and promote overall well-being. The methodology was structured according to Raffaelli’s project-based approach, combining documentary review, regulatory analysis, and interviews with experts in architecture directed towards health and well-being, together with a technical survey of the site and a functional analysis of the San José de Huambaló Foundation for People with Disabilities. This methodological integration made it possible to understand the real needs of the users and to establish coherent design criteria for creating spaces for people with disabilities. The study is framed within the research line of inclusive architecture and therapeutic design, aimed at generating spaces that promote sensory well-being, functional autonomy, and connection with the natural environment. As its main contribution, the research proposes the design of a Therapeutic Ambulatory Centre that incorporates principles of universal accessibility, an interdisciplinary approach, and strategies for interacting with the environment to strengthen therapeutic processes.Item type:Ítem, Propuesta de anteproyecto arquitectónico para los bloques de educación básica elemental de la Unidad Educativa Luis A. Martínez(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA DE ARQUITECTURA, 2026-01-19) ;Ilvay Chérez Jénnifer Estefanía ;Rojas Molina María AugustaUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA DE ARQUITECTURAThis research presents a preliminary architectural design proposal for the elementary school buildings of the Luis A. Martínez High School, located in the city of Ambato. The project arises from the need to renovate learning environments that no longer respond to contemporary pedagogical approaches or to the sensory and developmental needs of children. The study is grounded in the principles of sensory architecture, which understand space as an active component in learning one that influences concentration, emotional balance, social interaction, and overall student well-being. The project is motivated by several deficiencies observed in the existing infrastructure: insufficient natural ventilation, limited spatial adaptability, inadequate lighting, and a weak relationship between indoor and outdoor learning areas. To address these issues, the proposal incorporates bimodal classrooms that can be connected through movable acoustic panels, a creative laboratory for hands-on exploration, an edible garden functioning as a living learning environment, and green sensory zones that complement academic activities. Additionally, the design includes a new circulation corridor that links the blocks and improves the flow of students, along with a color-based signage system that enhances orientation and promotes autonomy. Methodologically, the study adopts a qualitative approach, combining field observation, semi-structured interviews, regulatory analysis, and a review of architectural precedents relevant to educational settings. These tools made it possible to understand the real needs of the school community and to define strategies aligned with current educational practices. The resulting proposal envisions a flexible, healthy, and nature-integrated educational environment that enhances daily experiences for both students and teachers.
