Diseño de Anteproyecto Arquitectónico de una Casa de Acogida para Mujeres Víctimas de Violencia Intrafamiliar en el Cantón Guaranda

Abstract

This degree project proposes the design of a preliminary architectural plan for a shelter for women who are victims of domestic violence in the Guaranda canton, Bolívar province. The project addresses a need for specialized facilities to care for vulnerable groups within the canton, as evidenced by the misuse of police facilities as temporary shelters, which do not provide acceptable conditions for maintaining the privacy and livability of the victims. The main objective is to develop a safe and suitable environment that aids in the victims’ transition toward autonomy, applying various theoretical guidelines regarding social protection architecture. The research adopts a qualitative and deductive-analytical approach, grounded in the study of architectural references, regulations, interviews with a network of key stakeholders, and a physical-environmental assessment of the site where the proposal is to be implemented. The results indicate the need to implement strategies based on protected domesticity, sensory justice, and environmental comfort. The proposal is guided by the concept of rebirth, which proposes a fragmented volumetry on a domestic scale, while also integrating transitional zoning and a hierarchy among spaces through a gradient of privacy, interior courtyards, and circulation paths that articulate and shape the entire project. The proposed materials, combined with the bioclimatic design, create an environment that ensures physical safety through the principles of defensible space and serves as a resource for the psychological and holistic recovery of the residents.
