Item El uso de la inteligencia artificial y la prevención de la violencia de género.(Universidad Técnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Derecho, 2025-08-04) Ponluisa Cobo, Ana Belén; Acosta Morales, María GabrielaGender-based violence has transcended physical spaces and extended into the digital environment, taking on increasingly complex and difficult-to-detect forms. The use of artificial intelligence has enabled certain types of violence—such as symbolic, political, and digital sexual violence—to be reproduced and amplified through technologies like deepfakes, biased algorithms, and the non-consensual sharing of intimate content. These scenarios pose a real threat to women's fundamental rights and demand responses from legal, ethical, and social perspectives. This research project falls within the line of inquiry on social and democratic establishment, as it reflects on the urgent need to build safe digital spaces where equality, dignity, and the right to a life free from violence are respected. To this end, a qualitative explanatory methodology was applied, based on documentary analysis and interviews with judges, prosecutors, and lawyers, who shared their experiences and perspectives regarding the use of AI in gender-based violence cases. The findings show that, while AI can be used to perpetrate violence, it also holds significant potential for prevention. Currently, there are technological tools capable of identifying risk patterns, issuing real-time alerts about dangerous situations, and offering support to victims. When properly designed with an ethical and gender-sensitive approach, these applications can become key allies in detecting and reducing violence, contributing to a fairer, safer, and more equitable society.Item La Violencia de Género en Zonas Urbanas y Rurales del Cantón Latacunga(Universidad Técnica de Ambato, Facultad de Juriprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Derecho, 2025-08-02) Chiluisa Chuquitarco, Evelyn Paola; Tite, Segundo RamiroThis thesis entitled “Gender Violence in Urban and Rural Areas of Latacunga Canton” analyzes the regulations of the Ecuadorian legal system and the actions of government agencies for the protection and eradication of gender violence. In recent years, the number of women who have been victims of some type of violence throughout their lives in a country that has established actions to eradicate gender violence is alarming. This is shown by the latest to the national survey on Family Relations and Gender Violence against Women (ENVIGMU) and Femicides 2019. This reality has led in recent years the various competent authorities at the local and national level to create and implement regulations that seek to prevent, eradicate, punish and comprehensively redress all forms of violence against women seeking to guarantee their rights. The main objective of the research study is to evaluate the actions implemented by the State and the local government in their application to the problem of gender violence against women in the canton of Latacunga. For this purpose, an analysis of the normative body and its functioning is carried out. Through a mixed methodology and with a hypothetical-deductive method. Finally, a field study is included based on the structuring that determined a population and sample that made it possible to identify the ingrained factors that perpetuate this problem that directly affects the lives of thousands of women. The results of the research conclude that, although Ecuador has a robust legal framework for the eradication of gender violence, its implementation is uneven due to structural and institutional factors in each area, the weakness in the dissemination of rights and the scarce coverage of specialized services in rural areas. This shows the need to strengthen and implement prevention and care measures according to the social and cultural particularities of the geographical sector.Item La violencia de género en el acceso y permanencia de mujeres en cargos políticos en Ecuador(Universidad Técnica de Ambato, Facultad de Juriprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Derecho, 2025-08-01) Izurieta Cevallos, Angie Micaela; Saca Balladares, Melinton FernandoThis research work, titled "“LA VIOLENCIA DE GÉNERO EN EL ACCESO Y PERMANENCIA DE MUJERES EN CARGOS POLÍTICOS EN ECUADOR”," has the general objective of evaluating the impact of gender-based violence on the access and permanence of women in political positions in Ecuador. This study is framed in a context where structural inequalities persist despite normative advances toward gender equality. The research is justified by the need to shed light on how various forms of political, psychological, symbolic, and verbal violence limit women's access to positions of power, as well as their permanence and full leadership within those spaces.A qualitative methodology with a legal-social approach was employed, using historical-legal, analytical-synthetic, hermeneutic, narrative, correlational, bibliographic, and field methods. This included normative and documentary analysis, along with interviews conducted with women leaders, who identified patterns of normalized violence and a deficient institutional framework. The findings reveal that, although the legal framework recognizes political gender-based violence, its implementation remains ineffective. Protection measures lack promptness, follow-up, and a gender-sensitive approach. This is further exacerbated by conflicts of interest, legal loopholes in the Código de la Democracia (Democracy Code), and a lack of institutional autonomy. As a result, many women are faced with the dilemma of resisting or stepping down. The study concludes that, while legal progress has been made in terms of formal representation, structural barriers in society continue to hinder full and equitable participation. Gender-based violence remains a strategy of exclusion that violates rights, undermines leadership, and obstructs the consolidation of an inclusive democracy in Ecuador. Based Violence Offenses from the Perspective of the Principle of Intersectionality,” aims to analyze the Ecuadorian legal framework regarding gender-based violence offenses, evaluating whether it adequately incorporates the principle of intersectionality. This principle recognizes that multiple vulnerability factors—such as ethnicity, class, age, disability, sexual orientation, among others—intersect and intensify the violence experienced by many women, especially within structurally unequal contexts. The study was conducted using a qualitative approach, employing legal and jurisprudential review as well as interviews with legal experts. Findings indicate that, although Ecuador has made significant progress with the enactment of the 2008 Constitution, the Comprehensive Organic Criminal Code (COIP) in 2014, and the Organic Law for the Prevention and Eradication of Violence against Women (LOIPEVCM) in 2018, normative and technical gaps remain that hinder the systematic application of the intersectional approach. The interviews reflect consensus among specialists on the urgent need for legal reforms, clear protocols, and training with a gender and intersectional perspective. It is concluded that, while the current legal framework is progressive, it is still insufficient to ensure effective and restorative justice that reflects the diverse experiences of victims. The mandatory incorporation of the principle of intersectionality as a transversal normative and procedural axis is essential to eradicate revictimization practices and to advance toward truly inclusive justice.Item Violencia de género en la mujer adulta mayor(Universidad Técnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Trabajo Social, 2025-07-24) Arcos Villafuerte, Heidi Aracelly; Espín Miniguano, Anita DalilaThe present study had the general objective of determining gender violence in older adult women, understood as a complex and multidimensional phenomenon that affects their physical, emotional and social well-being, through a qualitative methodology, using in-depth interviews coded with the ATLAS.ti software, allowing access to deep meanings of knowledge and valuing the voice of the participants. Thematic and axial analysis allowed for the identification of the various types of violence experienced and their consequences. Forms of physical, psychological, sexual, economic, property-related, and symbolic violence were identified, primarily in family settings. This demonstrates structural and persistent violence throughout the lifespan. The reported consequences were emotional, physical, and psychological: constant worry, sadness, sleep disorders, feelings of loneliness, and loss of self-esteem, all exacerbated by age and the lack of specialized care. Among the most significant risk factors were poverty, illiteracy, economic dependency, and residence in rural areas, elements that make violence invisible and normalize, anchored in social structures such as sexism, ageism, and exclusion. The conclusion is that gender-based violence in old age must be addressed from an intersectional perspective, incorporating feminist, gerontological, and human rights theoretical frameworks to offer comprehensive and effective responses. This critical approach denaturalizes violence and proposes pathways for its prevention and specialized care with justice and equity.Item El femicidio en el Ecuador: Caso Belén Bernal(Universidad Tècnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Derecho, 2023-09) Guzmán Ojeda, Carla Dayana; Tite, Segundo RamiroThe main objective of this investigation focused on analyzing the femicide case of María Belén Bernal, a fact that drew attentio since it was committed inside the Police Training School “Gral Alberto Enríquez Gallo”, the protagonist of this crime, Germán Cáceres, a police lieutenant, the same one who at that time served as a trainer for other police officers, to determine the mechanisms used for the commission, concealment, and subsequent abandonment of the body in a place far from where events occurred, power relations and gender violence of this criminal type, is explained and conceptualized in themes and sub- themes related to this case. The social group of interest for the research analysis has been determined in the group of the Elderly with ages from 65 years onwards. Being a group of double vulnerability first for being a woman and second for belonging to the group of the Elderly or Senior Citizens. Based on the field investigation, it was determined which are the social factors that affect gender violence in the Píllaro canton, determining as a result economic factors, family circle, bad relationships, culture and religion. With the creation of the Comprehensive Organic Law to Prevent and Eradicate Violence Against Women (2018), Ecuador intended to reduce rates of gender violence, but despite current legal regulations, the reality is different. Day by day we see how women die as a result of femicide, thousands of women are victims of some type of violence, be it physical, psychological or sexual, as well as hundreds of disappeared women in Ecuador. For this reason, the main purpose of this investigation is to show what the shortcomings are and what mechanisms the Ecuadorian State must adopt to eradicate once and for all gender violence not only in the rural sector but also at the national level, for women can feel free in a society that respects their human and constitutional rightsItem Violencia de Genero y Empoderamiento de la mujer en el Colectivo Ana de Peralta de la ciudad de Ambato(Universidad Tècnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Trabajo Social, 2023-03) Vargas Morocho, Fanny Gabriela; Altamirano Altamirano, Silvia JovannaGender violence and female empowerment are two realities that the country is currently experiencing, on the one hand we find that the rate of violence at the national level in recent years has increased brutally, while the term female empowerment is gaining strength very slowly, This is why the objective of the research is focused on: Identifying how the empowerment of women helps to reduce gender violence. For this, we worked with 40 women who are part of the Ana de Peralta collective in the city of Ambato, with a mixed research approach, which is why documentary collection was used for the qualitative field, while for the quantitative one, we worked with two surveys, for the independent variable the survey on Social and Gender Violence in the areas of influence of the Observatories of Social and Gender Violence was used, while for the dependent variable the instrument to measure the empowerment of women was used, same ones that were made in Mexico City. At the end of the study it was possible to determine that female empowerment is one of the most important factors to eradicate gender violenceItem El acogimiento institucional en casos de violencia de género(Universidad Técnica de Ambato,Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Trabajo Social, 2022-09) García Gualpa, Andrea Lisbeth; Haro Lara, Aída PatriciaThis research focused on investigating the institutional care in cases of gender violence, establishing the procedures to enter the Shelter, determining the different causes of violence and proposing alternatives based on formal support networks that were the police, shelter , and informal family, neighbors, friends and acquaintances; Taking into account that we worked with 18 violent women with an investigative approach, for which the inductive method was used, with a qualitative approach, an interview was used to establish the life stories of the women in the shelter of the city of I Salcedo in this way through the ATLAS program. The media are the ones who influence the collective imagination that depict social inequalities and among these, the one that costs most lives is male violence against women. Historically, gender-based violence has been the product of a patriarchal system with structures rooted in the oppression and silence of women. From a conscious point of view, the media should not only have the obligation to make this violence visible, but also to train society to become gender conscious and contribute to the eradication of all types of violence against women. Ambato has not had research done on discourse analysis in the local press, which is why, in addition to reflecting on this issue, "Femicides and media discourses of death" is a social critique of insensitive and voyeuristic journalism that views the deaths of women as headlines of spectacle for readers, and not as a social problem. As a starting point, Chapter I delves into communication theories, anthropology and sociology on the journalistic narratives that shape the treatment of news in the sensationalist context of femicide. Chapter II presents the methodology used in Chapter III, where, through an exhaustive discourse analysis, the narratives of local newspapers on five femicide news stories that occurred in Ambato in 2021 are questioned. The development of matrices combines the results between the spectacularization of death and narratives of fear around the deaths of women, including interviews with the editors of each media. Finally, with the help of national and international style manuals, alternatives for gender-conscious journalism are proposed. This research closes with its respective conclusions in Chapter IV, confirming the initial hypothesis.
