The advancement of information and communication technologies has brought about significant changes in how people access goods and services. Currently, a large part of commercial activity takes place through digital platforms, which has facilitated consumer relations. However, this scenario has also generated new forms of rights violations, for example, for older adults, who, due to the digital divide, limited access to technological training, and a lack of knowledge of cybersecurity mechanisms, are more vulnerable to digital offenses such as online fraud, deceptive advertising, improper charges, identity theft, and unauthorized use of personal data. This research aimed to study protective measures for older adults against digital consumer offenses. The importance of this research stems from the need to analyze whether current protection mechanisms adequately address the new dynamics of e-commerce and the potential risks older adults face when interacting in the digital world. Furthermore, this research is especially important given that it focuses on a priority group whose rights require effective protection within a constantly digitizing society. To achieve this objective, a qualitative approach was used, employing bibliographic-documentary and field research methods. The analysis of regulations, legal doctrine, scientific articles, and previous research allowed for the construction of the theoretical foundation of this investigation. Interviews with older adults will also be conducted to obtain perspectives that will contribute to a greater understanding of the problem analyzed. The results revealed that, although the Ecuadorian legal system recognizes rights and protection mechanisms for consumers and older adults, limitations still exist in effectively addressing new methods of digital infringement. The research was developed within the line of research on the protection of rights and guarantees, aimed at strengthening legal mechanisms that allow for the effective protection of priority groups in digital environments

Identidad y Bienestar del Adulto Mayor
(Universidad Técnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Trabajo Social, 2026-07-06) Bermudes Pico, Carlos Daniel; Naranjo Ruiz, Viviana Fidencia Naranjo Ruiz
The project helped determine the influence of well-being on the social identity of older adults, where social identity is reinforced when spaces for participation and inclusion exist, where their life story, knowledge, and contributions to the community are recognized. Maintaining a positive social identity is a protective factor against psychological decline and social exclusion. Through a mixed-methods approach, the identity and well-being of older adults attending the Totoras Parish Council were studied. The research employed a qualitative approach to understand perceptions, sense of belonging, social roles, community participation, and recognition of social identity; as well as a quantitative approach to numerically measure well-being and social identity. A 12-question survey with Likert-scale response options was administered to 52 older adults in the Totoras Parish, and two social workers were interviewed using a 10-question questionnaire, allowing the study to determine the influence of well-being on the social identity of this population. The results show that well-being depends not only on physical health, but also on emotional, family, and social factors that allow older adults to maintain an active and strengthened social identity; for this reason, it is suggested that the GAD and institutions linked to the care of older adults implement comprehensive programs aimed at strengthening the emotional, social, and community well-being of this vulnerable population

(Universidad Técnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Trabajo Social, 2026-01-19) Ortega Roldán, Karyme Nayelly; Torres Carrillo, Silvia Susana
This research is conducted in Chile and addresses the importance of social interaction and community networks in the urban context of Francke, a community in Osorno, Chile, where the community structure and population aging processes are accelerated. The objective is to understand how networks and interaction dynamics are managed in an urban context. The objective of this study is to analyze the relationship between social interaction and community networks in adults over the age of 60 in the Francke sector. The study group consisted of 18 older adults, all women. For the execution of the methodology, a qualitative approach was used, and semi-structured interviews were applied to investigate the interactions and networks of the older adults in the Francke sector. To address the objective of systematizing experiences, the life history technique was incorporated, which will allow us to understand how changes in family, work, and social life have influenced their forms of interaction and participation. The contraption held six sorts, fourteen signs, and fourteen small queries, letting us peek at the things that tickle the social chats of folks getting on in years, and also spot their helping webs and happenings. The findings from this look suggest that the aged folks in Francke mostly weave their friendly ties through kin and the folks nearby, which feel like big wells of feeling good and having someone around daily. The gathered tales spill out mixed-up happenings spotted with times of having company, sticking together, and being alone. It was seen that joining in planned group doings is small because of legs not working well, not enough right spots, and life sagas showed shifts in their local friendship circles, brought on by family and location shifts that shaped how they felt about fitting in socially. On top of that, a big wish for linking up popped up when easy-to-reach spots and bonds built on trust were around

(Universidad Tècnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Trabajo Social, 2024-08) Paredes Coronel, Angie Gabriela; Balseca Basantes, Jeanneth Elizabeth
The protocols of intervention are important tools for elderly care, and biopsychosocial intervention in gerontological centers is essential to ensure the comprehensive well-being of older adults. In this context, the present study titled "Biopsychosocial Intervention Protocols in Gerontological Centers" aimed to analyze these protocols. The research employed a qualitative approach with descriptive, analytical, bibliographic methods, among others, and utilized structured interviews consisting of 4 to 10 questions with experts in gerontology, professionals from gerontological centers, and older adults in Archidona, Ecuador. The application of this methodology allowed for the identification that, biologically, although there is periodic medical attention and adapted physical activities, the consistency and frequency of these interventions vary significantly, affecting the health and well-being of the residents. From a psychological perspective, despite the availability of evaluations and therapies, many older adults face significant challenges such as loneliness and inadequate emotional support. Regarding the social sphere, while integration activities and family support are promoted, it is crucial to strengthen support networks and improve interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure comprehensive care that fully addresses the biological, psychological, and social needs of this vulnerable population. In conclusion, the identified protocols include comprehensive health evaluations, physical activity programs, psychological therapies, nutritional supervision, and fall prevention. Although these protocols are theoretically efficient, their practical implementation has shown significant variations. Additionally, in both contexts, there is a lack of effective coordination among different professionals, namely doctors, psychologists, social workers, nutritionists, which remains a major barrier to comprehensive care. Implementing training programs for staff and families is also crucial to keeping the best practices and strategies in elderly care up to date

Being a group of double vulnerability first for being a woman and second for belonging to the group of the Elderly or Senior Citizens. Based on the field investigation, it was determined which are the social factors that affect gender violence in the Píllaro canton, determining as a result economic factors, family circle, bad relationships, culture and religion. With the creation of the Comprehensive Organic Law to Prevent and Eradicate Violence Against Women (2018), Ecuador intended to reduce rates of gender violence, but despite current legal regulations, the reality is different. Day by day we see how women die as a result of femicide, thousands of women are victims of some type of violence, be it physical, psychological or sexual, as well as hundreds of disappeared women in Ecuador. For this reason, the main purpose of this investigation is to show what the shortcomings are and what mechanisms the Ecuadorian State must adopt to eradicate once and for all gender violence not only in the rural sector but also at the national level, for women can feel free in a society that respects their human and constitutional rights
