Item Resiliencia en estudiantes con discapacidad visual(Universidad Técnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Trabajo Social, 2026-01-19) Montero Ortiz, Jeremy Aldair; Paredes Ruíz, Teresa de JesúsThe study addressed resilience in students with visual disabilities at the Technical University of Ambato, a problem framed within structural, social, and pedagogical barriers that limited their full inclusion in higher education; its general purpose was to analyze resilience in this group, with specific objectives to conceptualize it in relation to the educational experience, identify the factors that strengthened it, and determine the obstacles that restricted it. The methodology was developed under a qualitative and descriptive approach, using analytic‑synthetic and inductive methods, with a population of 11 participants and techniques such as participant observation and semi‑structured interviews supported by Atlas.ti. . The results showed a predominance of positive feelings over negative ones, a greater presence of resilient traits and adapted resilience, and a lower frequency of dominated resilience; likewise, protective factors such as social reinforcement were identified, along with persistent barriers such as lack of accessibility, family overprotection, and limited institutional empathy. In conclusion, resilience was configured as a dynamic and ecological process dependent on the interaction between personal resources, social support, and institutional conditions, which required strengthening inclusive policies, teacher training, support networks, and autonomy strategies to ensure equitable and transformative higher education. This analysis made it possible to understand that resilience was not a static trait but a construction nurtured by experiences, bonds, and learning, showing that educational inclusion required more than technical adaptations, as it demanded cultural and pedagogical changes that recognized diversity as a value; thus, the research provided evidence to promote institutional practices that favored equity and full participation, consolidating a framework for future actions aimed at improving educational quality and social justiceItem Apoyo Social en Adultos Mayores.(Universidad Técnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Trabajo Social, 2025-07-30) Estupiñán Fonseca, Kevin Israel; Balseca Basantes, Jeanneth ElizabethThe present study aimed to analyze the main sources of social support available to older adults who are part of the National Network of Older Adults of Ecuador – Tungurahua branch, in the city of Ambato. The research employed a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative and qualitative techniques. Data collection included the standardized MOS Social Support Survey and was carried out using proportional stratified sampling with a total of 136 participants from 9 older adult groups in the urban area of Ambato. Additional methods included focus groups and actor mapping with representatives and professionals linked to this age group. The results show that the overall frequency of social support in this population is notably low, with an average index of only 18.32 out of 100, reflecting an insufficient and fragmented support network, predominantly composed of informal relationships. The dimensions evaluated—emotional, material, affective support, and social relationships—showed low to medium levels in over 90% of cases, indicating the presence of weak and limited ties. Furthermore, significant structural and sociocultural barriers were identified, such as service fragmentation, weak institutional coordination, lack of visibility of older adults by authorities, and limited awareness of rights among the older population. These conditions directly affect their autonomy, quality of life, and social participation. It is concluded that the current support network, both formal and informal, is ineffective in addressing the comprehensive needs of this population, contributing to persistent vulnerability in their living conditions and social integration prospectsItem Calidad de vida en la emancipacion en estudiantes Universitarios(Universidad Técnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Trabajo Social, 2025-02-21) Guevara Carrasco, Erika Lizbeth; Torres Carrillo, Silvia SusanaThe present research aims to determine the influence of quality of life on the emancipation process of university students at the Technical University of Ambato (UTA), specifically those enrolled in the programs of Social Work, Social Communication, and Law. This study addresses a complex phenomenon that combines personal, social, and economic aspects, analyzing how students face the challenges of independence within a university context. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, integrating quantitative and qualitative methods for a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon. The total population of 20 students was included, conducting a census to ensure the participation of all eligible individuals. Structured questionnaires, adapted from the WHO Quality of Life Model (WHOQOL), were used to measure the dimensions of physical, psychological, social, and environmental well-being. Additionally, semi-structured interviews were conducted to explore the motivations, challenges, and experiences of emancipated students, complementing quantitative results with interpretive and narrative analyses. The findings reveal that the quality of life of emancipated students is a multidimensional construct, influenced by factors such as emotional well-being, financial security, and social support networks. Quality of life levels were moderate across most evaluated dimensions, with the highest satisfaction reported in social relationships (3.80) and the lowest in the economic domain (3.0). Older students (aged 22–25) demonstrated better adaptation strategies, translating into higher levels of psychological and environmental wellbeing. Emancipation was primarily motivated by the pursuit of independence, maturity, and a more focused academic approach. The main challenges identified included financial precarity, stress management, and maintaining healthy routines, all of which negatively impacted the students' psychological and physical well-being. Educational institutions were perceived as a significant area for improvement. Only a portion of the students reported receiving tangible support from the university, highlighting the need for more robust programs that address financial and emotional assistance. The study concludes that emancipation is a process driven by the pursuit of personal independence and the development of autonomy, but it is accompanied by significant challenges, particularly in the financial and emotional domainsItem Estrés parental en padres de universitarios de movilidad interna (foráneos)(Universidad Técnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Trabajo Social, 2025-02-20) Chuquilla Guaman, Katherin Mishell; Paredes Ruiz, Teresa de JesúsThis research aimed to analyze the level of parental stress in parents of university students studying away from home. A quantitative approach was used, collecting data from 53 parents through a questionnaire developed by Abidin, R.R. (1995). This study explored the level of stress experienced by parents of university students. The results revealed that a significant percentage of these parents reported high levels of stress, mainly attributable to concerns about their children's academic, social, and financial well-being, difficulty maintaining effective communication at a distance, and feelings of isolation. Additionally, significant differences in stress levels were identified based on variables such as the parent's gender and the length of time their child had been studying away from home. These findings highlight the need to develop specific support programs for parents of university students studying abroad, focusing on stress management, improving family communication, and strengthening social networks. The results of this research contribute to a better understanding of the experiences and needs of these parents and offer valuable implications for clinical practice, education, and public policyItem La vulneración de los derechos de las personas con enfermedades catastróficas y su dificultad al acceso a la atención integral en el sistema de salud pública(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Unidad de Posgrado, Maestria en Trabajo Social, 2020-10) Vargas Pin, Jessica María; Barragán García, José GabrielThe demand for people suffering from catastrophic diseases in Ecuador is increasing over time and the fulfillment of comprehensive health in our country, especially directed at this priority group and in a situation of double vulnerability, is a debt that the State maintains and that in many cases it is not fulfilled according to current regulations, which leads to the violation of one of the fundamental human rights within the Ecuadorian Constitution, such as the right to health. In effect, the state of health not only has to do with the optimal functioning in the biological aspects of the person but also those factors such as; enjoy goods and services that contribute to a state of human well-being. In this same sense, health focused on the bio-psycho-social level of the human being has become a social objective, where people with catastrophic diseases are disadvantaged and invisible in access to comprehensive health care, showing the problems and the increase in inequities in health and healthcare; This implies that the results presented in the public health system are insufficient to achieve the goals proposed by the State. In this same sense, this research aims to determine the impact of the violation of the rights of people with catastrophic diseases, for which it begins with the theoretical review of approaches that approach and represent the reality of the human being, this will allow a Better understanding of the environments and spaces for socialization of people suffering from these diseases. Likewise, a review of international and national legal regulations is carried out with a focus and criteria regarding the health and health services that this human group receives. The qualitative methodology is also applied, with the aim of observing, interacting and understanding the reality of people and making conclusions and recommendations that allow improving the health care of people suffering from catastrophic diseases.
