    Situación socioeconómica y elección de una carrera universitaria en estudiantes de tercero de bachillerato

    The socioeconomic situation is one of the most studied aspects within families, despite being a variable of great relevance to other dimensions. The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of socioeconomic status on the choice of a university career among third-year high school students at Unidad Educativa Capitán Giovanni Calles, in the city of Pelileo, during the year 2024. It aims to analyze the motivations of students in choosing a career, as well as identify the processes that produce social inequality, which influence decision-making when determining educational practices that affect young people's learning. The applied methodology was quantitative, descriptive, and correlational, involving a population of 51 students: 14 women and 34 men, who were evaluated using a survey instrument consisting of 21 questions created by the researcher of this study, validated by experts in related fields. The results determined that the economic factor is dominant when choosing a career, and most students want to pursue a career of their affinity without pressure or influence from their parents or society. The motivation of students receiving full support from their parents significantly influences academic performance and personal development. Likewise, social inequalities and educational competition are complex events that are correlated and significantly influenced by the social position of the students, affecting their academic performance and access to equitable opportunities. Educational practices through vocational and professional guidance are fundamental to ensuring a successful transition to higher education or the labor market
