Item type:Ítem, La ansiedad social en adolescentes y las estrategias de intervención desde el Trabajo Social(Universidad Técnica de Ambato, Facultal de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Trabajo Social, 2025-07-24) ;Albán Paredes,Erika DayanaCampoverde Quijano, Egda MaribelThis research focuses on a phenomenon that significantly affects the emotional well-being of adolescents: social anxiety. The study was conducted at the Cotopaxi Province Educational Unit, with the overall objective of analyzing this problem from a social work intervention perspective, seeking to understand its causes, effects, and possible approaches within the educational context. Through a mixed approach, quantitative and qualitative techniques were integrated. The Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale was applied to provide a diagnostic basis, and semi-structured interviews were conducted to gain insight into the adolescents' direct experiences. Beyond measuring levels, the study delved into the factors that cause social anxiety, how it affects their daily lives, and the role that social work can play in addressing this reality. The results revealed that many adolescents face difficulties in public life, expressing themselves confidently, or relating to their peers due to experiences such as fear of rejection, low self-esteem, overprotectiveness in their families, school conflicts, or a lack of emotional support. Theoretically, the psychodynamic model was used, which allowed us to understand how early experiences and emotional bonds influence the formation of identity and social relationships. On the other hand, the ecological model facilitated the analysis of the adolescent's environment, such as family, school, and community, as part of a network that can positively or negatively influence their socioemotional development. These findings highlight the need to promote social work intervention strategies focused on emotional support, the creation of safe spaces for expression, the strengthening of social skills, and coordination with families, teachers, and specialized professionals. These recommendations seek to contribute to more comprehensive and humane care for adolescents facing social anxiety within the educational system.
