Item Evaluación del efecto de isoxazolina (fluralaner) sobre el control de ectoparásitos y la salud dermatológica en coaties cautiverio.(2026-01) Carvajal Villacres, Luana Eleonora; Villavicencio Villavicencio, Blanca JeanethThis study aimed to determine the use of Fluralaner Bravecto® in controlling ectoparasites in captive coatis (Nasua nasua) of the Procyonidae family. Ten individuals were studied from two rescue centers: "El Arca" (Archidona) and "Yanacocha" (Puyo). After the animals were captured, initial dermatological and blood chemistry tests were performed. Seventy percent of the animals presented clinical changes, while 100% showed hematological changes consistent with parasitosis. Fluralaner was subsequently administered, followed by three follow-up tests at 15-, 45-, and 75-days post-treatment. From the first follow-up, a reduction in ectoparasites was evident, while the second showed a decrease in bacterial and fungal skin infections, as well as a progressive improvement in the coat. During the final follow-up, the coaties presented shiny, dense, and healthy coats, with complete recovery of both the skin and the coat. Furthermore, weight gain was recorded in the treated individuals, attributable to a lower parasite load and the resulting utilization of nutrients provided in the diet. Thus, the application of fluralaner Bravecto® proved to be an effective, safe, and long-lasting alternative for the health management of coaties in captivity, contributing to conservation, rehabilitation, welfare, and captive management programsItem Valores de bioquímica sanguinea en atélidos de los géneros (Lagothrix y Ateles) en cautiverio en la provincia de Pastaza(2021-01) Paredes Escobar, Mauricio Rolando; Villamarín Barragan, DarwinIn the present study, the blood biochemistry values of 22 primates of the Atelidae family of the species Lagothrix lagotricha lagotricha, Lagothrix lagotricha poeppigii, Ateles belzebuth, 14 females and 8 males in captivity, were distributed in the centers: Zoo Pastaza Selva Viva, The YanaCocha Wildlife Rescue Center and the Merazonia Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center, located in the province of Pastaza; the animals were calmed with a combination of Tiletamine-Zolazepam; The samples were taken from the femoral vein, kept for 10 minutes at room temperature, refrigerated and transported to the clinical laboratory where the analysis was carried out with the ABAXIS® VetScan VS2 Chemical and Electrolytic Analyzer equipment; The ranges obtained for liver function and integrity are the following analytes: ALT (U / L) 32.41 ± 7.08; ALP (U / L) 158.64 ± 104.81; ALB (g / dL) 3.54 ± 0.54; TP (g / dL) 6.41 ± 0.82; TBIL (mg / dL) 0.47 ± 0.16; GLOB (g / dL) 2.87 ± 0.92; GLU (mg / dL) 91.27 ± 37.19. Kidney function and integrity range BUN (mg / dL) 8.32 ± 6.93 were also included; CRE (mg / dL) 0.55 ± 0.22; K + (mmol / L) 6.97 ± 1.15; Na + (mmol / L) 139.73 ± 2.19; Ca + (mg / dL) 9.37 ± 0.67; FOS (mg / dL) 3.93 ± 1.39; In addition, the value of pancreatic functionality was determined, which is Amylase AMY (U / L) 108 ± 70.37. It is concluded that the obtained values are similar with those analyzed with other authors, there were no significant statistical differences according to age group and sex; except for Amylase and Globulin in Lagothrix lagotricha poeppigii according to age group.
