Item Valores de bioquímica sanguinea en atélidos de los géneros (Lagothrix y Ateles) en cautiverio en la provincia de Pastaza(2021-01) Paredes Escobar, Mauricio Rolando; Villamarín Barragan, DarwinIn the present study, the blood biochemistry values of 22 primates of the Atelidae family of the species Lagothrix lagotricha lagotricha, Lagothrix lagotricha poeppigii, Ateles belzebuth, 14 females and 8 males in captivity, were distributed in the centers: Zoo Pastaza Selva Viva, The YanaCocha Wildlife Rescue Center and the Merazonia Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center, located in the province of Pastaza; the animals were calmed with a combination of Tiletamine-Zolazepam; The samples were taken from the femoral vein, kept for 10 minutes at room temperature, refrigerated and transported to the clinical laboratory where the analysis was carried out with the ABAXIS® VetScan VS2 Chemical and Electrolytic Analyzer equipment; The ranges obtained for liver function and integrity are the following analytes: ALT (U / L) 32.41 ± 7.08; ALP (U / L) 158.64 ± 104.81; ALB (g / dL) 3.54 ± 0.54; TP (g / dL) 6.41 ± 0.82; TBIL (mg / dL) 0.47 ± 0.16; GLOB (g / dL) 2.87 ± 0.92; GLU (mg / dL) 91.27 ± 37.19. Kidney function and integrity range BUN (mg / dL) 8.32 ± 6.93 were also included; CRE (mg / dL) 0.55 ± 0.22; K + (mmol / L) 6.97 ± 1.15; Na + (mmol / L) 139.73 ± 2.19; Ca + (mg / dL) 9.37 ± 0.67; FOS (mg / dL) 3.93 ± 1.39; In addition, the value of pancreatic functionality was determined, which is Amylase AMY (U / L) 108 ± 70.37. It is concluded that the obtained values are similar with those analyzed with other authors, there were no significant statistical differences according to age group and sex; except for Amylase and Globulin in Lagothrix lagotricha poeppigii according to age group.Item Caracterización de imágenes ecográficas, mediante el uso de exploración abdominal rápida (AFAST) en atélidos en cautiverio(2021-01) Córdova Rivadeneira, Ted Sebastián; Villamarín Barragan, DarwinUltrasound images were characterized in 15 Atélids of the genera Lagothrix lagotricha and Ateles belzebuth using (AFAST) in captivity from Rescue centers and Zoos in the province of Pastaza: Tarqui Zoo, Yanacocha and Merazonia Ecological Reserve, the primates were sedated with tiletamine / zolacepam (8 mg / kg) intramuscularly, an a6v® ultrasound machine with a microconvex transducer was used with frequencies between 4 and 12 Mhz, echographic quadrants corresponding to the species were determined for the AFAST examination: diaphragmatic-hepatic incidence (DH) located in the midline of the retroxiphoid region, splenic-renal incidence (SR) located in the left hypochondrium, cystocolic incidence (CC) located in the prepubic region located in the hypogastrium just in the caudal midline and the hepatic-renal incidence (HR) located in the right hypochondrium; The comparative analysis of images between the two genera showed ultrasound patterns of abdominal organs (liver, spleen, kidneys and bladder) and similar characteristics of shape, topography and ecotexture between the two species; In addition, the topographic anatomy and the normal anatomy of the main abdominal organs were determined: Liver, located in the xiphoid region of regular contour with uniform compact tissue; spleen, located between the umbilical region and the left flank in the mesogastrium with a thin hyperechoic capsule with a normal fusiform shape; Kidneys, located in the right and left hypochondrium correspondingly in the epigastrium, have defined margins with a continuous hyperechogenic capsule of a normal elongated oval shape and a urinary bladder located in the prepubic region, with an echogenic thin wall of smooth contour with a normal ovoid shape; When performing the comparative analysis between the two genders under study, there was similarity in echogenicity and topographic anatomy; In addition, the AFAST protocol allowed a digitalization for anatomical orientation of the structures observed in the images obtained, becoming an important reference guide for doctors and students of Veterinary Medicine.Item Determinación de rangos para biometría hemática en atélidos de los géneros (Lagothrix y Ateles) en cautiverio en la provincia de Pastaza(2020-02-05) Zúñiga Araujo, Solange Danniela; Villamarín Barragán, Darwin RafaelThe objective of this investigation was to determine the hematic biometrics of the genres (Lagothrix and Ateles) in captivity in Pastaza. It was worked for the analyzes with 23 healthy primates, 15 females and 8 males between young and adults, the physical containment was carried out through a network and for chemistry Tiletamina and Zolacepam, it was used at a dose of 2.5 mg / Kg, the sample was taken by venipuncture of the femoral vein, in a light purple tube with EDTA, it was kept in refrigeration at 4˚C until its automated analysis in the MOVILAB laboratory in Ambato city, the values of primary erythrocyte indices were determined ( erythrocytes 10e6 / μL, hemoglobin g / dL and hematocrit%), secondary (Mean corpuscular volume fL, Average Corpuscular Hemoglobin pg and Concentration Average Corpuscular Hemoglobin g / dL), and platelets 10e3 / μL, ± 75.95; Leukocytes 13.57 x103 / μL ± 7.48; Neutrophils 64.54% ± 24.54; Eosinophils 3.41% ± 4.33; Basophils 0.19% ± 0.21; Lymphocytes 27.59% ± 21.64; Monocytes 4.27% ± 4.22. In the subspecies Lagothrix lagotricha poeppigii, erythrocytes 4.52 x10e6 / μL ± 0.82; hemoglobin 10.99 g / dL ± 1.97; hematocrit 36.71% ± 7.15; VCM 80.78 fl ± 7.76; HCM 24.17 pg ± 1.78; CHCM 30.01 g / dL ± 1.25; platelets 334.7 x103 / μL ± 88.23, leukocytes 14.14 x103 / μL ± 6.5; neutrophils 68.75% ± 11.66; eosinophils 3.88% ± 1.84; 0.45% basophils ± 0.73; lymphocytes% 24.75 ± 10.82; monocytes 2.17% ± 1.29. In the subspecies Ateles belzebuth erythrocytes 4.37 x103 / μL ± 0.26; hemoglobin 10.73 g / dL 10.73 ± 077; hematocrit 34.06% ± 3.85; VCM 78.33 ± 13.67; HCM 24.63 pg ± 3.26: CHCM 31.56 g / dL ± 1.30; platelets 388.33 x103 / μL ± 156, 18; leukocytes 18.13 x103 / μL ± 16.32; neutrophils 70.06% ± 13.15; eosinophils 2.2% ± 1,708; basophils 0.4% ± 0.69; lymphocytes 24% ± 13.52; monocytes 3.33% ± 2.51, both relative and absolute leukocyte formula were analyzed, it was concluded that the values obtained maintain similarity with those analyzed by other authors, in addition, there weren’t significant differences according with the age group or sex; with the exception of CHCM in Lagothrix lagotricha lagotricha, and the count of monocytes and eosinophils in Lagothrix lagotricha poeppigii between males and femalesItem Determinación de características físicas, químicas y microscópicas en orina de atélidos de los géneros (Lagothrix y Ateles) en cautiverio en la provincia de Pastaza(2020-02-05) Ulloa Espín, Katerine Anabel; Villamarín Barragán, Darwin RafaelIn the present study the physical, chemical and microscopic characteristics of urine were determined in 22 primates of the Atelidae family with the species (Lagothrix lagotricha lagotricha, Lagothrix lagotricha poeppigii, Ateles belzebuth) 14 females and 8 males in captivity; in different centers for rehabilitation and management of wildlife animals, located in the province of Pastaza. For sampling, the primates were reassured with an anesthetic combination of Tiletamine, Zolazepam, intramuscularly; the samples were obtained by ultrasound-guided cystocentesis, and kept ten minutes in the environment before being placed in the transport cooler; characteristics were determined, such as color: transparent to light yellow with a slightly cloudy appearance (1+), density (g / 100ml) was assessed by refractometer, obtaining an average range of 1002.14 (± 4.39); In addition, results were obtained from other analytes such as: Specific Gravity 1007.95 (± 6.90), pH 7.07 (± 0.42), Calcium mg / dL 17.27 ± (8.83), Creatinine mg / dL 28.18 (± 20.39); in the case of Leukocytes, Ketones, Nitrites, Bilirubin, Glucose, Blood, ascorbic acid, were negative; while the Microalbumin presented values of (<2.5 mg / dL), Protein (<15mg / dL) and the Protein / Creatinine ratio was (<0.2), finally the Urobilinogen was normal (2.0 mg / dL); the presence of crystals of calcium oxalate monohydrate was observed in the urinary sediment study; in the statistical analysis no significant differences were found between groups; which indicates that regardless of age or sex these values do not vary significantly. As there are no similar studies in Ecuador for this family, this research contributes in a significant way to the area of veterinary doctors working with these species, thus contributing to their conservation.
