Prevalencia de tricomoniasis en bovinos faenados en el centro de Faenamiento Municipal de Pastaza
(2024-10) Zúñiga Araujo, Solange Danniela; Carrillo Álvarez, Israel Salomón
Bovine trichomoniasis is caused by Tritrichomonas foetus, a protozoan species with wide worldwide distribution, causing a sexually transmitted disease in cattle that causes infertility, abortion and endometritis, postcoital pyometra or fetal maceration. In the present study, the prevalence of bovine trichomoniasis in cattle slaughtered at the Pastaza municipal slaughterhouse were determined. A total of 361 samples were taken from cattle admitted to the "Pastaza Municipal Slaughterhouse" from January to April 2024 from the Pastaza, Mera and Santa Clara municipalities. From these data, information on the relationship between the prevalence of the disease and the age, sex and origin of the animal was obtained. The study was carried out through simple random sampling and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, frequency and percentages. Additionally, the association of the variables sex, age and place of origin of the cattle with the prevalence of trichomoniasis was established through a Spearman correlation (𝜒 2 ). A general prevalence of trichomoniasis of 2.8% was found in cattle slaughtered in the municipal slaughterhouse of Pastaza, observed only in cattle from five parishes of the Pastaza canton with a total of 10 positive cases. No association was found between the sex, age group and place of origin of the cattle and the prevalence of trichomoniasis in this study. Given the importance of trichomoniasis, it is recommended to carry out studies using molecular biology to confirm the presence of the parasite in herds in the area.

The objective of this investigation was to determine the hematic biometrics of the genres (Lagothrix and Ateles) in captivity in Pastaza. It was worked for the analyzes with 23 healthy primates, 15 females and 8 males between young and adults, the physical containment was carried out through a network and for chemistry Tiletamina and Zolacepam, it was used at a dose of 2.5 mg / Kg, the sample was taken by venipuncture of the femoral vein, in a light purple tube with EDTA, it was kept in refrigeration at 4˚C until its automated analysis in the MOVILAB laboratory in Ambato city, the values of primary erythrocyte indices were determined ( erythrocytes 10e6 / μL, hemoglobin g / dL and hematocrit%), secondary (Mean corpuscular volume fL, Average Corpuscular Hemoglobin pg and Concentration Average Corpuscular Hemoglobin g / dL), and platelets 10e3 / μL, ± 75.95; Leukocytes 13.57 x103 / μL ± 7.48; Neutrophils 64.54% ± 24.54; Eosinophils 3.41% ± 4.33; Basophils 0.19% ± 0.21; Lymphocytes 27.59% ± 21.64; Monocytes 4.27% ± 4.22. In the subspecies Lagothrix lagotricha poeppigii, erythrocytes 4.52 x10e6 / μL ± 0.82; hemoglobin 10.99 g / dL ± 1.97; hematocrit 36.71% ± 7.15; VCM 80.78 fl ± 7.76; HCM 24.17 pg ± 1.78; CHCM 30.01 g / dL ± 1.25; platelets 334.7 x103 / μL ± 88.23, leukocytes 14.14 x103 / μL ± 6.5; neutrophils 68.75% ± 11.66; eosinophils 3.88% ± 1.84; 0.45% basophils ± 0.73; lymphocytes% 24.75 ± 10.82; monocytes 2.17% ± 1.29. In the subspecies Ateles belzebuth erythrocytes 4.37 x103 / μL ± 0.26; hemoglobin 10.73 g / dL 10.73 ± 077; hematocrit 34.06% ± 3.85; VCM 78.33 ± 13.67; HCM 24.63 pg ± 3.26: CHCM 31.56 g / dL ± 1.30; platelets 388.33 x103 / μL ± 156, 18; leukocytes 18.13 x103 / μL ± 16.32; neutrophils 70.06% ± 13.15; eosinophils 2.2% ± 1,708; basophils 0.4% ± 0.69; lymphocytes 24% ± 13.52; monocytes 3.33% ± 2.51, both relative and absolute leukocyte formula were analyzed, it was concluded that the values obtained maintain similarity with those analyzed by other authors, in addition, there weren’t significant differences according with the age group or sex; with the exception of CHCM in Lagothrix lagotricha lagotricha, and the count of monocytes and eosinophils in Lagothrix lagotricha poeppigii between males and females
