    Repotenciación del sistema de refrigeración del horno de inducción utilizado para el proceso de fundición en los laboratorios de la FICM

    In the laboratories of the faculty there is a broken induction furnace, which needs improvements in its cooling system to be operational and contribute in the area of manufacturing processes. In this research, the cooling system of the induction furnace for low-capacity aluminum smelting was upgraded to ensure efficiency and improve the durability of the equipment in order to ensure an efficient smelting process. The parameters evaluated included volumetric flow, temperature and water pressure, even though the furnace had a minimum capacity for aluminum alloys and operated at 7 kW power with specific voltages. Calculations were detailed: chiller selection, circulation pump specifications, water storage tank size, including infrastructure needs for furnace portability and water recirculation system, plans and a comprehensive budgeting scheme were developed as part of this integrated approach. As a result there was the improvement of the cooling system through water recirculation, eliminating direct waste in the drains and improving the casting processes in the laboratories of FICM, this initiative takes into account that the induction furnace significantly exceeds the heat production time compared to the times of a gas burner that takes 240 minutes, while the induction furnace 5 minutes, reaching thermal loads of 139348.62 J with a volumetric flow of 2,735 L/min.

    Diseño y construcción de un molino de bolas de alta energía con sistema de refrigeración para aplicación de pulvimetalurgia para el Laboratorio de Materiales de la Carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica

    This technical project was carried out due to the importance of implementing a high-energy ball mill for powder metallurgy application and in turn obtaining metal powders for the materials laboratory of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Technical University of Ambato. The project is directed at the design, construction, and operation tests, which are made up of a biphasic motor, eccentric, axles, gear wheels, tensioners, structural system components, for which the theoretical and practical part was investigated, with a grinding mechanism composed of a grinding base box, box lid, grinding tray and demolition elements, defining its support, where the axes have the function of generating movement through the gear wheels and the synchronous belt; where the size, weight and noise of the mill are very important parameters to design as well as the maximum volume of material to be ground; Thus defined its purpose of construction obtaining particle sizes of 0.30 to 4.72 mm, in a time that varies from 0 to 120 minutes. Finally, the machine was built with materials available on the market at affordable prices in case any change or maintenance is required.

    This Technical Titling Project focuses on the design, construction and operation testing of an attritor-type ball mill for obtaining powders and alloys from metal chips, acquiring information about the process of powder metallurgy, data and characteristics of the material and using, selection weights of alternatives, criteria such as design and calculation corresponding to the most relevant parts of the milling. As a basis is the analysis of the grinding parameters with the attritor mill should be recorded, such as the turning speed, contamination of the powders due to the material, temperature control and grinding time. Continuing with the selection and weighting of the operating systems in the machine being valued according to weighting criteria such as reliability, maintainability, assembly and price of each of the alternatives to subsequently be calculated valued with its reliability factor. Finally, we proceed to the construction and assemble of parts and elements of the machine being these built and others acquired. One of the most relevant the frequency inverter because it regulates the turning speed and prevents the engine from suffering damage in case of jams and then goes through the operating tests, obtaining the expected results in the mechanical grinding.

    Injection molding is going through for a technological transformation with trends such as: intelligent machines that are solutions that can be optimized themselves, the automation can now control virtually any industrial process, the sensor that can detect a wide range of magnitudes and the additive manufacturing that allows small productions of pieces, the elaboration of pieces of high complexity at low costs, the construction of molds, among others. The national competition has forced the company Halley Corporation to supplement its safety kit with hearing protectors, the importance of this project is that a plastic injection mold was built, contributing to the exploitation of the industry. In the present work the piece was designed in a specialized software, injection mold components were designed, feed, ejection and refrigeration systems were designed using only written bibliographies, in addition the mold components were machined with calculations based on the tools of the company. The final product obtained ratifies that the design was correct , there were no disadvantages when trying the mold and to make the assembly with the rest of the elements that make up the safety kit.

    The object of the present work is satisfy the necessity of the company Halley Corporation, with the end of do the arc pad in series in the same time with certain dimensions, for this reason the author of the work have requirements of the company for elaborate the mold, like the material that will be used for the building, and the plastic that will be used for inject the object that need the company. For this reason, the project was started with the modeling of the arc pad in a specialized software, after that we got the nucleus and cavity of the object to inject. Then with the help of the software we analyze the demoulding angles and the dimensions that need the arc pad. For other part, the calculations were obtained in based of requirements of the company like the material that will be injected, in this case the material is ABS, and the material that will used for the building of the mold Among the calculations that were obtained are the feeding, refrigeration and expulsion systems for asegurate the correct operation of the mold. For finish the project we realized machining of the arc pad with a CNC milling machine, also it was built the different elements that make up the mold. The tests of the construction of the mold were realized with the help of an injecting machine, in this moment we look that the selection of the systems were correct, because the mold had an adequate efficiency in the injection process.

    Estudio de un sistema de refrigeración de elementos electrónicos para el control de temperatura en tierra del UAV Gavilán del centro de investigación y desarrollo de la Fuerza Aérea Ecuatoriana

    El presente trabajo de investigación se cumplió conforme a los requerimientos del Centro de Investigación y Desarrollo de la Fuerza Aérea Ecuatoriana, gracias a las diversas simulaciones ensayadas se determinaron para el compartimiento central del UAV una aplicación de 15 m/s, velocidad de aire que da un caudal suficiente para refrigerar por aire forzado a los elementos electrónicos como el Transmisor RF y Amplificador, manteniendo por debajo de 38°C, protegiendo a estos dispositivos que no cometan errores en el procesamiento de datos. De la misma forma con una velocidad de aire a partir de la velocidad crucero 28 m/s aplicado a las entradas de aire para la refrigeración del Motor Meggitt, es eficiente la disipación de calor, evitando que se transmita hacia los mamparos de aluminio y el fuselaje, manteniendo la temperatura del Mamparo Soporte y el Fuselaje por debajo de los 28°C, garantizado la integridad de los sensores sensibles que se encuentran dentro del compartimiento secundario, de igual forma los cilindros del Motor Meggitt se encuentran a 75°C, temperatura que es menor a lo especificado por el fabricante, impidiendo que la temperatura ascienda hasta niveles peligrosos que comprometan a este elemento importante del UAV-Gavilán. Para la elaboración del proyecto se realizó el diseño de un sistema de respaldo en tierra para la disipación de calor en el chequeo de pre-vuelo del vehículo aéreo no tripulado UAV – Gavilán, el sistema está diseñado en una bancada móvil para su fácil maniobrabilidad el equipo opera de forma automática y manual con la finalidad de mejorar la refrigeración del UAV-Gavilán en el chequeo de pre-vuelo, antes que efectúe las misiones designadas.

    Estudio del manejo de la información del parque automotor de la Universidad Técnica de Ambato, para establecer la fiabilidad

    La modernización en el control y mantenimiento de automotores hoy en día tiene un alto índice de crecimiento y la tendencia de producir más y mejor, por este motivo es indispensable implementar un sistema de control en la Universidad Técnica de Ambato que posee un parque automotor que necesita estar en excelentes condiciones para su funcionamiento. Luego de examinar el estado actual se vio la necesidad de elaborar un estudio; que consiste en investigar esta sección, analizar y explicar sobre el cuidado que se le debe ofrecer a los automotores. Con la realización de un estudio de mantenimiento se pretende, que los automotores de la institución, se encuentren en óptimas condiciones y evitar paradas imprevistas; incrementando de esta manera la vida útil de los automotores; ahorrando tiempo en los mantenimientos. Mediante la investigación realizada se pudo determinar y analizar los vehículos pertenecientes al parque automotor de la Universidad Técnica de Ambato para conocer sus existencias, características y recomendaciones de los fabricantes al realizar un inventario de los vehículos, fichas técnicas, análisis de la fiabilidad para determinar el proceso de comunicación entre el responsable del vehículo y el departamento de distribución vehicular.
