    In this project, the need for an analysis of the road conditions in the urban area of Ambato canton is highlighted. Over time, the asphalt pavement and pavement structure in the area have undergone various changes. It is important to consider that if the road infrastructure is in optimal conditions, it would have a positive impact on the economy and mobility of the inhabitants in the area. In the current research project, a visual study was conducted to assess the road conditions in the Techo Propio urban zone belonging to Ambato canton. Information was gathered visually using the researcher's criteria and applying the use of informative forms. With the assistance of a manual GPS, anomalies or faults along the evaluated roads were documented. The severity level and the condition of the pavement layer of the main roads in the sector were identified using the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method. This information aims to provide proper road maintenance for each road. Additionally, a reference budget was prepared for the repair and maintenance of the study area. Upon completion of the road analysis to understand the road conditions in the study area, the geographic information base will be handed over to the Municipal Government of Ambato. This allows the municipality to utilize the information for the benefit of the community, serving as a contribution from the Technical University of Ambato.

    This degree project presents the need for a road analysis of the urban area of the Canton of Ambato. This is due to the fact that over the years it has undergone several changes in the area of the asphalt and its infrastructure, taking into account that if it were in optimal conditions, it would generate a positive impact on the economy and mobility of the inhabitants. In the present project, a visual study was carried out in the urban area of the city of Ambato, in order to establish its road condition, in which a data survey was carried out with the help of a manual GPS and specific cards, in which each of the anomalies and their degree of severity are explained, In the same way, the main roads were evaluated to determine the condition of the pavement and thus provide a correct maintenance in each of them, additionally a referential budget was estimated so that the maintenance of the evaluated area can be executed. At the conclusion of the road analysis, a geographic information database will be delivered to the GAD Municipal de Ambato, so that this information generated will be beneficial to society as it is a contribution of the Technical University of Ambato.
