Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2018) Aguilar Tabares, Daniela Johanna; López Arboleda, Alex GustavoThe objective of this experimental investigation is to evaluate the efficiency of crushed brick as filtering material in the treatment of wastewater, by analyzing the parameters: Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD5), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and Sulphides. Once the results were obtained and analyzed, the efficiency of the filter was determined and compared with the values of permissible limits specified for Discharge to the Public Sewerage of the Unified Text of Secondary Legislation of the Ministry of the Environment (TULSMA). For the development of the project, the tannery "PROMACC", of the City of Ambato, was chosen as the study site, from where the residual water was collected. A metal structure was made for the filter, where the 55-gallon storage tank was placed, which through a 1 m pipe reaches the plastic container that contains the filtering material, with dimensions of 57 x 42 cm. To ensure the proper functioning of the filter, a constant flow rate of 0.105 l / min was used. During the filtration process, 10 samples of raw water and filtered water were obtained for later analysis in a certified laboratory of environmental services the parameters indicated above. Based on the results, it was determined that the use of crushed brick as filtering material has reduce the levels of contamination of the effluent from a tannery in minimum percentages. Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2018) Moya Andino, Herman Paúl; Maldonado Narvaez, Lenin RafaelThe present work has made it possible to assess a new alternative for the treatment of wastewater generated by the slaughtering center rates, on the basis of the design and construction of a prototype of the biofilter using the crushed brick as a filtering material. This method is relatively cheap and economical, at the same time the construction of the model and the maintenance do not need a high cost. The process started with the construction of the model through, a support structure, hydraulic installations, container of filter material (crushed brick). The functinging of the model of the biofilter begins with filling of the Reservoir of 55 gal with waste water from the Slaughtering Rates center Tena, which passes through the prototype and remain in a period of three months of oparation in order to evaluate the performance of the crushed bricks and determine its efficiency to reduce pollutants. Making ten chemical analysis of samples of the filtered waste water can evaluate the parameters of COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand), BOD5 (biochemical oxygen demand) and ST (Total) to determine the reduction of contamination that is initially present. The samples of the analysis were carried to the the Quality Control Laboratory of the Municipal Company of Drinking Water and Sewerage system of Ambato EP-EMAPA. The result that for the BOD5 concentration have decreased by 45.59% in relation to the non-filtered water, thus maintaining lower concentrations to 450mg/l, for the parameter COD concentrations below 1400mg/l with an average efficiency of the filter for the 50.29% and for the ST parameter analyzed, evidence concentrations lower than 1300mg/l, with an average efficiency of the filter with crushed bricks of 44.72%.Item Análisis de ladrillo triturado como filtro en el tratamiento de aguas residuales provenientes de la lavadora y lubricadora “San Francisco” ubicada en la ciudad de Ambato(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica. Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2018) Sánchez Acosta, Ricardo Vinicio; Moya Medina, Dilon GermánThe present experimental project show a process and analysis of a filtering material for the pretreatment of wastewater from a car wash industry, so taking as an alternative the use of crushed brick, with which it is reduced to levels of contamination of the effluent , in a 90-day monitoring period. For this, it is necessary to determine the important parameters of the industry, as well as the requirements of income or consumption, know the infrastructure and operation of it; also determining the filter design for a flow rate of 0.105 lt/min of daily consumption. The sampling during the filtration process determined the efficiency of the material, it was done every 10 days and at the same time taken to the laboratory for analysis; the results obtained revealed the decrease in pollution levels, from initial values of oil and grease contamination (246 mg / l), COD (2715 mg / l) and BOD5 (1328 mg / l O / l) , until final results of (0.11 mg / l), (1258 mg / l) and (624 mg O2 / l) respectively after filtration. The results of the analysis of the filtered samples showed decreases in the levels of pollution levels; The efficiency of crushed brick to treat oils and fats is very evident. The crushed brick is a material that possibly manages to treat oils and fats in its entirety, presenting an efficiency value of 99.96%, thus satisfying the limits proposed by the TULSMA for this parameter; Similarly, for COD and BOD5, the efficiency values are 65.75% and 70.86% respectively, reducing pollution levels, but not satisfying the limits proposed by the norm described above.
