Item Diseño de un sistema de captación de gua lluvia (SCALL), para el abastecimiento de equipos sanitarios en el edificio del Centro de Desarrollo Infantil de la Universidad Técnica de Ambato Campus Huachi Chico(Universidad Técnica de Ambato-Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica-Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2026-07-03) Villacres Villavicencio Sebastian Aldahir; Guevara Robalino Jorge Javier; Universidad Técnica de Ambato-Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica-Carrera de Ingeniería CivilThis technical project develops the comprehensive design of a Rainwater Harvesting System (RWHS) to supply the water needs of the sanitary facilities in the Child Development Center (CDI) building of the Technical University of Ambato, Huachi Chico Campus. This research adopts a sustainable civil engineering approach, promoting the substitution of potable water with rainwater for non-consumptive activities. It integrates a qualitative analysis of technical regulations and prior research with a development based on the processing of historical rainfall records and an architectural survey conducted in the field. The system's sustainability is based on a technical design that maximizes the use of renewable resources and materials with low environmental impact. The collection system harnesses roof runoff, conveyed by gravity through an optimized plumbing network. To guarantee the quality of the collected water without technical treatment, the system includes filtration systems. For water storage, a modular geocellular technology made with recycled polypropylene was chosen. This alternative significantly reduces the carbon footprint of construction compared to conventional systems, and optimizes the use of available space by being installed underground. In accordance with the sustainable and ecological approach, the pumping station operates autonomously using a photovoltaic solar power generation system with electrochemical storage, meeting operational demands. Finally, the evaluation demonstrated the feasibility of the SCALL system. Thus, the proposal is established as a viable and replicable technicalecological model for the institution
