Item Evaluación de asfalto modificado mediante la incorporación de grano de caucho reciclado (GCR) y asfalto reciclado (RAP)(Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica. Carrera Ingeniería Civil, 2025) Padilla Núñez Michelle Nicole; Bayas Altamirano Myriam MarisolEconomic development has generated demand for road infrastructure, along with the increase in waste derived from disused tires, leading to an environmental problem that requires sustainable solutions. In this context, this research aims to evaluate the incorporation of Recycled Rubber Granules (RRG) and Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP) in asphalt mixtures as an ecologically and technically viable alternative for the design of flexible pavements. The reuse of these materials seeks to reduce resource use, lower production costs, and mitigate the environmental impact associated with road construction. The study includes the production of 45 asphalt briquettes: 9 conventional briquettes and 36 modified briquettes with different dosages of RGR and RAP. The mixtures used asphalt contents in the following percentages: 5.5%, 6.0%, and 6.5%, with four recycled additions of 4% GCR and 7% RAP, 10% GCR and 15% RAP, 15% GCR and 20% RAP, and 20% GCR and 25% RAP. Through volumetric and mechanical characterization tests, the behavior of the mixtures was analyzed with respect to parameters such as stability, flow, voids, and bulk density. The results showed that only the mixtures with 4% GCR and 7% RAP met the minimum requirements established by the MOP-001-F 2002 standard. However, all modified mixtures presented flow values outside the regulatory range, indicating a greater tendency toward plastic deformation. This is mainly attributed to the thermoplastic and absorbent properties of recycled rubber. From an economic perspective, the production cost of the modified mix was determined to be USD 72.58/m3, practically the same as the traditional mix of USD 72.52/m3, reinforcing the viability of this alternative. It is therefore concluded that the use of GCR and RAP, in controlled proportions of less than 20% and with an optimal AC-20 content of 6.0%, can be an effective strategy for producing more sustainable asphalt mixes without significantly compromising their structural performance or cost.
