Item Evaluación del esfuerzo cortante mediante el ensayo de corte directo en suelos limo-arenosos de la parroquia Quisapincha(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2024-08) Manotoa Paredes, Pablo Daniel; Pérez Maldonado, Ruth LorenaThe direct shear test provides the values of the internal friction angle and cohesion of a soil, values that are often assumed or neglected as the cohesion in the soils of our Andean region. The present research aims to evaluate the shear resistance of the soils of the Quisapincha parish through laboratory tests. Before starting laboratory activities, a reconnaissance of the areas where the sample was obtained was carried out, the sampling was carried out according to what is indicated in the corresponding regulations, pits were used to extract samples, once the desired depth was reached, He began to carve a sample block to obtain a complete sample; To characterize the soil, humidity, granulometry, and Atterberg limits tests were carried out. With the results, the soil type was classified according to SUCS and AASHTO. To obtain the shear resistance, direct cutting equipment was used, 3 specimens were carved for each sample and the test was carried out, a normal stress of 50 kPa, 100 kPa and 200 kPa was placed, the internal friction angle values and Cohesion range from 23.671 degrees to 39.26 degrees, while cohesion values range from 0.44 to 1.24 kilograms per square centimeter. The shear resistance values range from a minimum of 83.726 kPa; 124,593 kPa and 171,472 kPa respectively at the normal applied stress and up to maximum values of 159,996 kPa; 200.863 kPa and 282.595 kPa.
