Stainless steels are widely used in industry for their corrosion resistance capacity, but abrasive wear is not taken into account in these materials. This lack of consideration can lead to an incomplete view of the performance of these materials in industrial environments. In this research, tests were carried out on AISI 304, AISI 316 and AISI 420 stainless steels, under the ASTM G105-20 standard, to address this problem. For this, tests were carried out on 5 specimens of each material for each disk of Shore A50 and Shore A70 hardness. In these tests, standardized parameters and conditions were applied, such as the rotation speed of the discs, which in this case is 350 rpm, applied load of 222 N, an abrasive mixture of 1.5 kg of silica sand and 0.94 kg of water, each of the specimens were subjected to wear in an aqueous medium for five time intervals of 3 minutes, followed by weighing to determine the amount of material lost in grams. With the results, it can be determined that both abrasive wear and the speed of abrasive wear are lower in AISI 420 stainless steel and higher in AISI 304 and AISI 316 stainless steels, due to their respective hardness. It was also determined that the speed of abrasive wear with each disc and in each time interval was similarly constant, while the abrasive wear increased gradually.
