Mg.Down Syndrome (SD) is a chromosomal disorder caused by the additional presence of part or all of chromosome 21, which causes a series of physical, physiological and cognitive disorders in those who suffer from it. The vestibular and optokinetic system of the brain is affected, so one of the main features of this syndrome is the loss of balance and motor coordination. The main objective of this research was to determine the effects of the application of music therapy on motor coordination and balance in athletes with Down syndrome belonging to Special Olympics Ecuador from Quito. An intervention protocol was applied with a sample of six male athletes with Down syndrome, whose ages range between 15 and 42 years. During 8 weeks of intervention, 3 times for week and 60 minutes each one. An evaluation was made at the beginning and end of the intervention through the KTK Test, and Romberg Test. This intervention was based on a training program with neurological music therapy of 15 exercises distributed in three difficulty levels high, medium and low. The intervention with neurological music therapy during the 8 weeks of intervention produces positive results on evaluated variables, improving the motor coordination by an average of 12% and the balance by 17%.Item “La estimulación temprana en el desarrollo psicomotriz de los niños con síndrome de Down de entre 4 a 6 años de edad de la unidad educativa especializada Ambato”(Estimulación Temprana, 2018-10-01) Tello Cruz, Mayra Alejandra.; Rojas Pilalumbo, Washington Fabián, Ps.CI.The present research project was developed on the theme: "Early stimulation in the psychomotor development of children with Down syndrome between 4 and 6 years of age from the Ambato special school", whose general objective was to analyze the influence of the early stimulation in the psychomotor development of children with Down Syndrome between 4 and 6 years of age of the Ambato Special School and as a specific objective to identify the psychomotor development of children with Down Syndrome, apply early stimulation activities for strengthen the psychomotor development of children with Down syndrome and evaluate the results acquired when applying early stimulation activities in children with Down syndrome between 4 and 6 years of age. We worked with a population of 20 children with Down Syndrome from the Ambato special school, for a total of 20 children under investigation, this research is descriptive. The information was collected using the technique of observation and as an instrument the scale of assessment of psychomotor skills in preschool, to determine the level of psychomotor development of children with Down syndrome. This instrument was applied in two instances, a before and after applying activities for psychomotor development and thus verify their level of development. Mg.The following project explores the multisensory room in the proprioceptive development of children from 0 to 3 years old with Down’s syndrome. Which it had a question to answer and it was: establish the proprioceptive room influence in children from 0 to 3 years old with Down syndrome. In this point, I proved that children with Down syndrome showed a retardation in the milestone’s accomplishment of development. It is due to presence of mental retardation with intellectual coefficient between mild and moderate. Also, the multisensory room helps children to active their senses because it works with different stimuli. That is to say that it lets to wake up in children new feelings improving the working of their central nervous system. Likewise, the project applied an observation sheet focusing on visualize what kind of activities the teachers did in the multisensory room. After that, the Sensory Profile Test of Winnie Dunn was applied in children of 8 years old who always came up to “El Peral” Disability Inclusive Center. The test was focusing at parents because they know very well the posible answers of their children to sensory interactions that occur in the whole day. Finally, the application of the test let to get an important aspect to be consider and it was the sensory processing. It let to know the functional performance section of the child. With the processing and analysis of the results obtained, it turns out that the majority of children showed definite difference or sensory processing problems.
