(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2024-08-27) Toapanta Vinocunga, Geidy Mabel; Espín Pastor, Victoria Estefanía
Physical capacities in military personnel are assessed in a regulatory manner in which strength and endurance are subjectively assessed. However, the total parameters of physical capacities are not covered because flexibility and speed, which can be determining factors in physical and work performance, are not assessed. Therefore, the aim of this research project was to determine physical capacities by means of physica l fitness assessment tests in the military. A physical fitness assessment test was applied to examine the strength, endurance, flexibility and speed of 80 military personnel aged between 20 and 50 years at the Patria Military Fort. This research is of a correlatio n a l type with a quantitative approach and a transversal non-experimental design, the correlations carried out were by means of Spearman's statistical test. Among the results obtained, it was determined that the physical fitness of the military personnel is at a good level due to the fact that it ranges from moderate to high. However, there is no direct relationship between the years of military service and physical abilities, i.e., the years of training in this population do not intervene in the performance of physica l tests. Therefore, it can be concluded that a low relationship between jogging and endurance is evident, because jogging is used as an exercise to improve endurance. In addition, abdominal strength plays an important role in push-ups.

Dependence is an emotional state accompanied by a behavioral pattern that suggests difficulty in making decisions autonomously and rationally, while well-being is a subjective perception of harmony in the areas of personal, social and family development. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between emotional dependence and psychological well-being in military personnel. A non-experimental quantitative study with a descriptive and correlational cross-sectional design was used. A total of 206 military personnel from Ecuador with a mean age of 30.42 participated in the study, who were selected by means of non-probabilistic intentional sampling at the convenience of the researcher using inclusion criteria. The Emotional Dependence Questionnaire (EDC) and Ryff's Psychological Well-Being Questionnaire were used as instruments. The results show prevalence of normal (43.2%) and mild dependence (40.3%); in addition, moderate (55.8%) and low (43.2%) levels of psychological well-being; no significant associations were found between emotional dependence and marital status (p= ,101 > 0.50) or between psychological well-being and military marital status (p = ,342 > .050). Finally, no significant relationship was found between emotional dependence and psychological well-being (Rho = ,390 > 0.50), however, the correlation coefficient was (r= -.060), inferring that people with low levels of dependence will have high psychological well-being. It was concluded that emotional dependence is inversely related to psychological well-being, both variables are important when assessing the mental health of military personnel

Obsessive-compulsive behavior and anxiety can have a negative impact on the mental health of military personnel. The general objective of this research was to analyze the relationship between the level of obsessive- compulsive behavior and the level of anxiety in military personnel. The methodology implemented in this study had a quantitative approach of correlational type, non-experimental design, cross-sectional, bibliographic modality applied to a population of 152 military personnel between 21 and 62 years old, selected by snowball sampling by convenience, 70% of whom were in active service and 30% in passive service. The Obsessions and Compulsions Inventory-Revised (OCI-R) and the Hamilton anxiety scale were applied. The results showed a significant correlation (Rho=0.721p<0.001) between obsessive-compulsive behavior and anxiety. High and average levels of obsessive-compulsive behavior and anxiety were found in the active and passive duty military personnel in the present study.

Musculoskeletal disorders of the Shoulder are a subject of great interest within the Physiotherapy literature, particularly with respect to recurrence rates and the ideal technical indications for treatment. Little has been published specifically addressing the occupational implications of shoulder instability in the military. The present research project aimed to determine the prevalence of shoulder musculoskeletal disorders in soldiers in active service of the Soldiers Training School in the period from March to June 2017, an analysis of the medical records was made of soldiers with these disorders to determine its prevalence. It was observed that in the period from March to June of the year 2017 there were 38 cases of soldiers with musculoskeletal disorders of the shoulder, 94.7% correspond to the male sex, the groups with the highest frequency of disorders were the military with more than 30 years ( 65.8%), instructors and athletes had a higher prevalence of these disorders with a representation of 65.9% and 26.3% respectively, the rotator cuff syndrome had a frequency of 34.2% followed by biceps tendonitis by 21.1%. It is concluded that the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders of the shoulder in the soldiers of the Ambato Soldiers Training School "Vencedores del Cenepa" is 12.8%, that is, 3 out of every 100 active service soldiers have compatible cadres with said disorders in the period described above.

The present investigation aimed to determine the incidence of musculoskeletal injuries in spinal column of active duty military personnel belonging to ESFORSE - Ambato. It is known that musculoskeletal disorders of the spine are several conditions that affect nearly two-thirds of the world's population at some point in their lives. Military personnel have certain risk factors that amplify the possibility of such disorders. A retrospective investigation of the medical records of the Urban Health Center of the ESFORSE - Ambato was carried out and the incidence of musculoskeletal disorders of the active duty military was determined in the period from March to June of 2017. Patients in the range of ages with higher incidence who were 30 to 39 years old with 49% of attentions for such disorders, patients of activity or function with higher incidence of disorders were instructors with 39.7% of cases, pathology with the highest incidence is the lumbago with sciatica with 24.7% of the disorders. It can be concluded that there is a considerable incidence of musculoskeletal disorders of the spine, especially of the lumbar section. Military personnel who act as instructors, drivers and amanuenses have to take into account the ergonomic risks present in their activities because that It could be the genetic factor that causes such disorders and those responsible for occupational health and safety of ESFORSE to take into account that the incidence of such disorders can be triggered by such ergonomic risk factors inherent in the activities of such military

Muscular skeletal pathologies are a group of lesions that present a high prevalence as they affect a large number of people, even more so to people who use their skeletal muscle to perform physical activities such as those of a military profession which are constantly subjected to heavy physical loads due to their arduous physical training. The lack of training prior to physical activities greatly influences the appearance of these alterations that manifest with pain and loss of mobility, thus diminishing the physical capacity of the military. The present study aims to determine the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders in the military who attend the physical therapy area of the BFE N.- 9 PATRIA polyclinic in the period August 2015 to August 2016 of the city of Latacunga in the province of Cotopaxi. For that we used the technique of observation and data collection that were provided by the statistical area of the polyclinic of BFE N.- 9 PATRIA. By knowing the most frequent musculoskeletal conditions, a greater emphasis can be placed on their promotion, prevention and treatment.
