The investigation presents a qualitative approach, exploratory in scope, entirely field-based with the relatives of patients hospitalized for COVID-19 in the period March 2020- November 2021. Non-probabilistic purposive sampling was employed, the instrument of which was an individualized interview with a duration of approximately 30 to 45 minutes, in addition, purposive sampling was applied until the information saturation was reached, for the analysis of the data a graph was elaborated to represent the participants' answers according to the categories that were previously established by the authors, based on the deductive method and hermeneutical phenomenology. In conclusion, negative experiences were presented in the personal, psychological, family, social, economic, and communicational areas, as a result of the ignorance of health personnel and families regarding the treatment of a new disease worldwide, evidencing the insufficient medical and therapeutic approach faced with these types of situations and catastrophes.
