Item COMPLICACIONES NEUROLÓGICAS EN PACIENTES INFECTADOS CON VIRUELA DEL SIMIO: UNA REVISIÓN BIBLIOGRÁFICA(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Medicina, 2024-06-10) Zurita Paredes, Katherine Melissa; Villacis Valencia, Sandra ElizabethMonkeypox became a new health emergency, after a new outbreak appeared in places not usual for the disease, affecting the five continents with approximately 16,836 cases and occurring to a greater extent in men who have relationships with men. Having sexual contact as a new route of transmission. This zoonosis can present rare neurological complications, including encephalitis and meningitis. A bibliographic review of the scientific literature was developed considering articles published, during the last five years, in indexed journals visible in databases with regional and global coverage such as Scopus, WOS, Taylor and Francis and PubMed on neurological complications attributable to smallpox. ape considering its clinical nature. description to promote diagnosis, treatment, prognosis and effective prevention. The selected language was English and Spanish. The objective of this article is to develop a bibliographic review of the scientific literature of the last five years on monkeypox as a new global health emergency that provides relevant information for the clinical description of the neurological complications associated with it, favoring its diagnosis. treatment, prognosis and prevention.Item Método luz y sombra como herramienta para estimular el área cognitiva en un paciente con encefalitis de 4 años de edad(Universdidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Carrera de Estimulación Temprana, 2021-04-01) Chico Farinango, Liseth Estefania; Garófalo Espinel, Ana Cristina Dra.The present research work aims to determine the benefits of the light and shadow method in the cognitive area of a patient with encephalitis; this being a qualitative research, the characteristics of the disease and the complications that occur in the cognitive area are described. Encephalitis is the inflammation of the brain parenchyma, caused by different viruses. The present case was diagnosed in a 4-year-old male patient, with impaired cognitive area, the Infant Neuropsychological Maturity Questionnaire (CUMANIN) was applied, resulting in a deficit in cognitive functions, the need for look for a method that allows you to rehabilitate, the natural benefits of sunlight are detailed, as well as artificial light that allows us to improve the patient's quality of life, with each activity proposed in the treatment plan, working on cognitive functions such as : attention, memory, agreement, thought, expressive, comprehensive and articulatory language, visual perception, spatial structuring and even psychomotor skills, taking each of the scales evaluated as a reference.Item “La estimulación multisensorial en una niña de 4 años con tetraplejia espástica diagnosticada con encefalopatía necrotizante aguda”(Universidad Técnica de Ambato - Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud - Carrera de Estimulación Temprana, 2018-04-01) Cárdenas Manobanda, Diana Carolina; Fernández Soto, Gerardo Fernando Dr. Mg.Acute Necrotizing Encephalopathy (ANE) is a swiftly progressive disease that occurs in normal children; associated with common viral infections such as “influenza” and “parainfluenza”, it is also mentioned that its appearance increases when there is a mutation of the Ran Binding Protein 2 gene, which is responsible of normalizing the energy and preserve the blood-brain barrier in nerve cells. It begins as a normal infection that includes common symptoms, later it becomes complicated because of the presence of convulsions and abnormalities in muscle tone, even the patient comes to fall into a coma causing injuries at the Central Nervous System. In the development of this work, the case of a 4-year-old girl is detailed, after the flu vaccine is placed, she presents initial symptoms of fever and vomiting; she went to health personnel, at night her case worsens presenting seizures clonic tonic plus decreased state of consciousness; in another health institution they report signs of probable Acute Viral Encephalitis Bilateral Mastoiditis; However, the analysis of symptoms and signs continues with the diagnosis of Acute Necrotizing Encephalopathy (G31.8) resulting in spastic tetraplegia. The distinction of a guide of multisensory stimulation is important for a patient who presents spastic tetraplegia, is a set of techniques applied opportunely for therapeutic purposes that help to form neuronal connections, to awake the senses, understand the body schema, interact with the environment; that is recover lost functions that help improve the quality of life of the patient as well is possible.Item “La estimulación multisensorial en una niña de 4 años con tetraplejia espástica diagnosticada con encefalopatía necrotizante aguda”(Universidad Técnica de Ambato - Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud - Carrera de Estimulación Temprana, 2018-04-01) Cárdenas Manobanda, Diana Carolina; Fernández Soto, Gerardo Fernando Dr. This disorder affects the level of basal ganglia and its connections with the prefrontal and premotor cortex. The most visible manifestations are: involuntary movements, slow, winding, rhythmic with change in tone, constant changes in the face. This disorder is not progressive and does not have a cure, but with the right care and time we can help the child to lead a more functional life, especially avoid musculoskeletal deformations that are characteristic of this pathology.
