(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Carrera de Fisioterapía, 2022-03-01) Cedeño Santos, Lady Estrella; Espín Pastor, Victoria Estefanía Lcda. MSc.
Sensory deficits, whether visual, vestibular or proprioceptive, in elderly people can affect the quality of life and the degree of dependence. The main objective of this study was to determine the sensory dependence of motor control and quality of life in older adults of the Sumak Kawsay Wasi Institute of Priority Social Attention of the Provincial Government of Napo. Twenty-three older adults aged 65 years with an average of 75.9 ± 7.2 years from the Sumak Kawsay Wasi Priority Care Institute of the city of Tena participated, where 16 (70%) were women and 7 (30%) were men. Sensory dependence was evaluated with the Romberg test, Timed Up and Go and the Functional Reach test. The WHOQOL-OLD (World Health organization Quality of life-Old) questionnaire was used to assess quality of life. Participants signed the informed consent form and SPSS was used for data analysis. The mean quality of life was 73.04±10.51, 56.5% (13 patients) have high quality of life, while 43.5% (10 older adults) have medium quality of life. We conclude that the visual deficit was more compromised than the vestibular and proprioceptive areas. However, the variables were significantly influential in the quality of life of the older adult.

“Detección y análisis de trastornos musculoesqueléticos en adultas mayores usuarias de Chumbi”.
(Universidad Técnica de Ambato - Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud - Carrera de Terapia Física, 2019-09-01) Herrera Yánez, Mónica Lucia; Latta Sánchez, María Augusta Lcda. Mg.
Currently there is no relevant data on the subject in Ecuador, for this reason the research is important for a future study, since it will be investigated on the musculoskeletal disorders that are caused by the postural alterations and the activation of the musculature that make up the band Abdominal in older women users of chumbi, since when performing daily activities in the field this population requires using the musculature of the spine to perform activities that require a lot of muscular effort. The research according to the study method is descriptive and observational, it is also quantitative since the postural test was used and statistical data were handled that the software of the team assesses the muscular activity. The study was carried out in two rural parishes of the Ambato canton, such as Macasto and Apatug. The research line of this study is epidemiology. It is concluded that older women who are users of chumbi have greater postural alteration at the level of the spine and hip, musculoskeletal disorders at the same level of the alteration and muscle activity is decreased in relation to older women who are not users of chumbi.
