Item CUIDADOS PALIATIVOS PEDIÁTRICOS SEGÚN EL MODELO DE MARJORY GORDON: REVISIÓN SISTEMÁTICA(2025-06-17) Vilca Ruiz Joselyn Mayerli; Fernández Nieto Miriam Ivonne; Universidad Técnica de Ambato / Facultad de Ciencias de Salud / Carrera de EnfermeríaIntroduction: The main objective of pediatric palliative care is to improve the quality of life of children and their families by alleviating the physical, emotional, social and spiritual suffering associated with serious illness. In order to provide adequate care, nursing staff must perform a first-line assessment that is appropriate, and this is what the theorist Marjory Gordon proposes, which she offers to assess with the eleven functional patterns. Objective: To analyze the studies carried out on pediatric palliative care according to Marjory Gordon's model. Methodology: This is a qualitative, retrospective research, through a systematic review using the documentary technique to collect information in different scientific databases such as Google Scholar, Pub Med, Scielo and Dialnet. In addition, Boolean operators such as "AND", "OR" and "NOT" were used, and the PRISMA statement (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) was used to obtain information. Results: 103 articles were located, which were discarded due to their similarity. We were left with 54 documents, of which 5 met the inclusion criteria, which were articles in English and Spanish, published from 2020 to 2024. The studies mentioned that functional patterns are used for care in clinical practice. Conclusion: Studies showed that nursing theories in palliative practice highlight Jean Watson's Theory of Humanized Care, which allows for interventions that are tailored to the needs of the pediatric patient and family.Item CONOCIMIENTO DE LOS ESTUDIANTES DE ENFERMERÍA SOBRE LOS FUNDAMENTOS DE LOS CUIDADOS PALIATIVOS(2025-06-16) Ayala Torres, Melanie Yajaira; Moyano Calero, Willian Eudrillir; Universidad Técnica de Ambato / Facultad de Ciencias de Salud / Carrera de EnfermeríaPalliative care represents a holistic methodology in medical practice, designed to improve the quality of life of people suffering from serious or terminal conditions by relieving pain and other physical ailments while offering emotional, psychological, social and spiritual assistance to both the patient and their families. Objective. To evaluate the level of knowledge about palliative care possessed by nursing students from the Technical University of Ambato. Methodology. Quantitative approach, non-experimental-cross-sectional design and descriptive scope. The population was 133 seventh semester students of the Nursing Degree, from which a sample of 70 students was determined by a simple random probabilistic sampling type, to whom the questionnaire "Palliative Care Quiz for Nurses" was applied. This questionnaire evaluates the level of knowledge about palliative care, consists of 20 items with dichotomous answers. Results. 74.3% of the participants have sufficient knowledge about palliative care, of which 76.1% are women. Pain and symptom management (74.3%) and Philosophy and principles (62.9%) are the dimensions with the most correct answers. However, the Psychological and spiritual dimension (41.3%) becomes the dimension with the least correct answers. Pain treatment is the most understood dimension. Conclusion. Although students show favorable attitudes, it is still essential to increase their academic training in the philosophical and psychosocial dimensions of palliative care.Item EL MANEJO DE SÍNTOMAS RESPIRATORIOS EN CUIDADOS PALIATIVOS PARA PACIENTES CON EPOC(2025-06-16) Manzano Pérez Johanna Michelle; Cruz Castillo Yessenia Magaly; Universidad Técnica de Ambato / Facultad de Ciencias de Salud / Centro de PosgradosChronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a complex progessive and irreversible condition of the respiratory system that affects millions of people in the world, in recent years it is disproportionate increase has been predicted, recognizing that many patients do not receive adequate treatment in the final stages of life. Although the potential benefits are recognized, access is deficient, generating uncertainty for those who require this intervention. Objetives: We analyzed updated scientific evidence on the management of respiratory symptoms in patients with advanced COPD in need of palliative care. Material and methods: A review of the literature was carried out, including scientific articles, systematic reviews and metaanalyses of the last 5 years, as well as documents from scientific societies with expertise in the subject, through scientific databases of impact such as Pubmed, Science Direct, Scopus and Google Scholar.
