INCIDENCIA DE TOXOPLASMA GONDII Y FACTORES DE RIESGO EN ESTUDIANTES DE LA FACULTAD DE CIENCIAS AGROPECUARIAS DE LA UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO
(2025-02-25) Lara Ramirez, Alison Mikaela; De La Torre Fiallos, Ana Verónica; Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Laboratorio Clínico
Introduction: Toxoplasmosis is a parasitic disease caused by Toxoplasma gondii, characterized by the presence of specific antibodies against this agent. Its life cycle involves cats as definitive hosts and various intermediate hosts, facilitating its transmission, particularly in individuals with greater contact with animals or agricultural environments. Objective: To determine the incidence of Toxoplasma gondii in students from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the Technical University of Ambato. Methodology: An observational, cross-sectional, and descriptive study was conducted with 73 volunteer students. A survey was administered to assess risk factors, and blood samples were collected to measure IgG and IgM antibodies using the ELISA technique. The Chi-square statistical test was employed for data analysis. Results: Fifteen percent of participants had IgG antibodies against Toxoplasma gondii, with no detection of IgM antibodies. Of the seropositive cases, 73% were women. Additionally, a significant association was observed between a lack of knowledge about the disease and an increased risk of infection. Conclusion: Occupational factors related to student activities did not show a direct influence on the presence of antibodies, given the low incidence recorded in the study population.

FACTORES DE RIESGOS ASOCIADOS A LA INFECCIÓN POR HELICOBACTER PYLORI EN ESTUDIANTES DE LA UNIDAD EDUCATIVA PEDRO CARBO DEL CANTÓN GUARANDA
(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Laboratorio Clínico, 2024-08-05) Chacha Guaquipana, Erika Nayeli; Vilcacundo Córdova, Mario Fernando
The bacterium Helicobacter pylori is a pathogen that colonizes more than half of the world's population, causing several gastrointestinal conditions. In Ecuador it has a high incidence of (70 and 80%), which is acquired at an early age due to exposure to various risk factors. The objective of this study was to establish the risk factors associated with Helicobacter pylori infection in students of the Pedro Carbo Educational Unit of the Guaranda canton, in order to determine its incidence and the risk factors that are directly related to the infection. A cross-sectional, observational and retrospective study was carried out, analyzing 133 stool samples for the detection of the Helicobacter pylori antigen by the immunochromatographic method, in addition, surveys were used for the collection of data/information and the SPSS Statistics Base program for the creation and analysis of graphs and tables. It was identified that the main risk factors associated with Helicobacter Pylori infection in the institution are: coexistence among several people (overcrowding), the non-availability of basic services, eating in the street, and the consumption of tap water at home.

For the evaluation, we proceeded to fill out a clinical history model that consists of the anamnesis, a physical evaluation, manual tests that lead to a physiotherapeutic diagnosis; point from which and according to the place of origin of the discomfort, different questionnaires (DASH, NDI, OSWESTRY) were applied, which are used worldwide and provide great reliability and validity to be applied within the evaluation. The study is descriptive in nature since the data was collected at the workers' workplace, epidemiological in nature as it seeks the incidence of pathologies, among which we have: Low back pain, Quervain's tendonitis and carpal tunnel tendinitis, Cervicalgia and Tendinitis of the rotator cuff. Finally, a survey was carried out to find the risk factors that influence the development of discomfort, with mechanical and ergonomic factors being predominant.

(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Carrera de Terapia Física, 2020-08-01) Caicedo Cobo, Pedro Fernando; Cárdenas Medina, Jorge Humberto
The present research focuses on determining the incidence of ankle sprain is trail running runners of the Tungurahua Adventure Team club, considering that this is a relatively new sport and that it is having a great growth in recent years and that it is a sport that has a great variety of competition modalities as well as many types of terrain and surfaces on which this practice takes place. Within the sample population that was taken for this study there are a number of 60 athletes of which 34 of them meet the eligibility model there, applying a calculation estimate formula a final sample of 23 respondents remained. Once the surveys that were carried out during three weeks were carried out, it is visualized that the sprain is very present in the practice of trail running since 14 people 9 of them presented an ankle sprain, of this number 14 people suffered it once, 5 people suffered it more than once and only four did not suffer it. It should be noted that the 1st degree sprain is the one that occurs most 12 times within the population, 5 times the second degree sprain and 2 times the grade 3 sprain.
