Cl.MgFor what a person is considered within the group of adults, according to the United Nations, said person must be 60 years old onwards and under this slogan, they are also part of one of the vulnerable groups of Ecuador. This population does not count on many studies about the self-concept that they present in their different dimensions or on the style of humor that they use in their majority; For this reason, research is important to obtain information about how the established variables are manifested in a group of institutionalized older adults in our environment and the objective was to analyze the relationship between self-concept and mood styles in the elderly. The type of research is correlational, following a line of human health and quantitative. With the participation of a total of 47 older adults, external and internal users of the Integral Center for Older Adults, the Scale Self-concept Form Five Af-5 was applied, which measures self-concept in five dimensions and the Humor Styles Questionnaire that provides information on the 4 styles of humor. The results through the program Statistical Package for The Social Sciences (SPSS) indicated that there is a strong correlation between the dimensions of self-concept and the styles of humor in this group of participants; In addition, the prevailing styles of humor that were manifested are the increaser and the affiliative, in terms of the dimension of the highest self-concept, the labor followed by the physical one was presented. Women had a higher level of job and physical self-concept, while men indicated use mostly negative moods.
