Mg.The general objective of this research was to identify the role of nursing personnel in achieving parental involvement in the care and adaptation of the premature infant in the neonatology service of the General Hospital Latacunga. This research is quantitative, descriptive, field and cross-sectional in which the population to study was 12 graduates in nursing who work in the area of neonatology and 11 fathers and mothers of hospitalized preterm infants. 100% of the population was taken according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Two instruments were used to obtain the data, the first a perception survey prepared by Jahuancama and Espinoza in 2017 with the 0.94 of reliability directed to parents that consists of 20 items in relation to the perspective on the treatment provided, information and their participation in the care of their children, the second instrument was an observation guide for nursing personnel based on nursing interventions (NIC). The results showed that 92% of the nursing staff encourages the participation of parents in the care of premature babies. In relation to the perception of parents about their inclusion in the care of their child 55% sometimes refer to participate and with respect to the relationship of parents with the nursing staff most of the respondents indicate that sometimes the staff Nursing provides a kind and supportive service to parents.
