MSc.
Family functionality refers to the relationship that exists between each of its members within the usual nucleus, it implies adequate communication to carry out the family roles that each one must fulfill for optimal functioning. In the family, various roles can be identified, such as: authority, control, expression of positive or negative affection and support, etc. These roles are incorporated into each family nucleus as patterns of interaction that are transmitted from one generation to the next. When a family has developmental problems, it is called a dysfunctional family, which has distinctive characteristics such as: discrepancy, lack of attention, distance and blurred boundaries between the members, this has a significant impact on the well-being of its members, since it increases the possibility of crises or serious events in the most vulnerable of the family nucleus. One of the effects identified in adolescents is the presence of negative behaviors and attitudes that are difficult to control, which has a negative impact on the educational environment. The main objective of the research was to analyze the psychometric properties of the Family Functionality Scale (FF SIL) in a sample of 328 Ecuadorian adolescents from rural áreas.
