Item CALIDAD DE SUEÑO Y ESTADO DE ÁNIMO EN ESTUDIANTES UNIVERSITARIOS(2025-03-05) Armas Valarezo Danea Anabel; Saltos Salazar Lenin FabiánSleep quality refers to a subjective feeling of restfulness, which is necessary for a person to function optimally, while mood is an affective and emotional phenomenon that is composed of both positive and negative emotions that can last for hours or days. The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between sleep quality and mood in university students. The sample included 278 students, aged between 18 and 35 years, from the Faculty of Civil and Mechanical Engineering of a university in Ambato. The research adopted a quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational approach. To measure the variables, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), adapted by Royuela and Fernández in 1997 in Spain, and the Mood Rating Scale (EVEA) were used to evaluate the emotional state of the participants, which was adapted to Spanish by Pereira and Fernández in 2005. The results showed a moderate positive correlation between sleep quality and sadness-depression, anxiety and anger-hostility; and a low negative correlation with happiness. In the sample, poor sleep quality predominated with 65.5%, while in the mood subscales, happiness stood out. In addition, no significant differences were found in sleep quality according to sex.
