Mg.The study of a male patient of the age of 2 years, who attends the Disabled Persons Care Center "San Anian" located in the sector of Pinllo. The patient is a native of the province of Tungurahua, canton Ambato. The mother reports that her pregnancy was not planned. At 6 months of gestation, they diagnose the fetus with Dandy Walker syndrome through an ultrasound and later with an MRI. the reports of the doctors who attended him, notify that the patient could die during the pregnancy or the childbirth. The delivery was dystocic due to the threat of abortion at 38.5 weeks. Currently the patient has not developed skills in the areas of psychomotricity, language, social and cognitive. It presents characteristic symptoms: convulsive crisis, increased intracranial pressure, reduced muscle tone, cognitive deficits and generalized developmental delay. The medication you are given is a combination of Phenobarbital and Levetiracetam to help control your seizure. The patient is totally dependent on his mother and the caregivers of the center he attends. This case is presented along with a review of the Dandy Walker Syndrome, which will present an investigation covering important aspects about its symptoms, causes, intervention and treatment as a form of self-preparation to provide adequate early care to patients with this syndrome.
