The proposal arises from the need to improve the quality, coverage, and management of institutional connectivity services, due to wireless network saturation, uneven distribution of access points, and the sustained increase in users and connected devices. The project proposes the design of a dedicated infrastructure based on XGS-PON and Wi-Fi 6 technologies, capable of meeting the current and future needs of the university community through a scalable, secure network managed by the institution. In addition to strengthening academic, research, and administrative processes, the proposal includes a strategic growth vision that would allow the IAP to become a university production unit, offering internet access services to the areas surrounding the Huachi Campus, especially the Celiano Monge parish. The results demonstrate the technical, economic, operational, and regulatory viability of the project. The financial analysis shows favorable indicators, with an estimated investment of USD 132,500, a positive Net Present Value (NPV), and an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) exceeding the opportunity cost. Furthermore, the initiative helps bridge the digital divide in the community, strengthens ties with society, and generates a sustainable revenue stream for the universityItem type:Ítem, Evaluación técnica de confiabilidad en la remanufactura de terminales móviles mediante técnicas de microelectrónica y uso de componentes donantes.(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. A quantitative descriptive approach was applied to a dataset of 3,297 real repair records obtained from a specialized repair workshop located in Ambato, Ecuador, covering the period January–December 2025. Records were classified according to intervention type. Process reliability was estimated using the rework rate, defined as the proportion of devices that returned to the workshop under warranty conditions. Results showed that 92.5% of incoming devices were successfully repaired, of which 14.5% required the use of donor components, primarily in charging circuit failures and signal or WiFi connectivity faults. The overall process reliability index reached 96.65%, with a rework rate of 3.35%. From an environmental perspective, the process avoided the emission of 215.5 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent and the generation of 548.3 kg of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), representing a 97.7% reduction in carbon footprint compared to the new-device substitution scenario. It is concluded that mobile terminal remanufacturing through microelectronics techniques is a viable process, exhibiting technically acceptable reliability indicators and a measurable positive environmental impact. The implementation of a standardized damage classification system establishes a necessary condition for increasing the reliability index, reducing the rework rate, and consolidating specialized workshops as formal circular economy actors within the Ecuadorian context. Carrera de Ingeniería en Electrónica y ComunicacionesThis research project designs, implements, and validates a low-cost, IoT-based real-time air quality monitoring system for the city of Esmeraldas. The initiative arose from public concern about increasing atmospheric pollution, primarily associated with the industrial activity of the Refinery, and the lack of objective and accessible data. The developed solution integrates local sensors (PMS5003, DHT22) that measure particulate matter (PM2.5, PM10), temperature, and humidity, installed in autonomous nodes powered by solar energy. These nodes transmit data via long-range wireless communication (LoRa) to a central station (gateway). Field tests established an effective range of 700 meters, far below the theoretical maximum, highlighting the importance of a network design tailored to urban conditions. Data is processed by a modern microservices architecture, which uses MQTT and RabbitMQ for messaging, InfluxDB for time-series storage, and Grafana for interactive dashboard visualization. The system includes modules for calculating air quality indices (nowcast) and generating alerts. An applied citizen perception survey revealed that: 92.81% are aware of the health impact; 78.57% perceive an increase in pollution; 92.21% identify the Refinery as the main source; and an overwhelming 98.68% support the installation of a monitoring system, validating the project's social relevance.Item type:Ítem, Sistema de control y monitoreo de los tanques de reserva de la Junta Administradora de Agua Potable y Saneamiento “Patután”(2025) ;Toapanta Llumiquinga Alex Santiago ;Brito Moncayo Geovanni DaniloUniversidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería en Sistemas, Electrónica e Industrial. Carrera de Ingeniería en Electrónica y ComunicacionesThis research was conducted with the objective of implementing a control and monitoring system for the reserve tanks of the “Patután” Drinking Water and Sanitation Administrative Board. The proposed water tank control and monitoring system was developed to optimize water resource management through the implementation of modern technologies to monitor water levels and operating conditions of the tanks in real time. The proposed control and monitoring system is based on the use of industrial-grade sensors capable of measuring water level, pressure, and other key tank parameters in real time. These data are transmitted to a centralized platform that enables remote access to real-time information, allowing for faster and more accurate decision-making. Following the implementation of the system in the water board, it was concluded that the selected equipment such as the Arduino MEGA, ultrasonic sensors, modules, regulated ATX power supplies, Ethernet shields, and 4” Genebre automatic valves enabled the design of a modular, efficient, and scalable system. This selection ensures the operational stability of the control and monitoring system under real working conditions. The system used an Arduino board to execute the main program. In Node-RED, variables were created and a visual environment was integrated using an imported graphical scenario design. This approach optimizes the use of water resources within the water board. Carrera de Ingeniería en Electrónica y Comunicaciones, 2024-08) ;Saigua Uchuari, Sofia ElizabethAltamirano Meléndez, Santiago MauricioThe implementation of the Internet of Things (IoT) increasingly addresses more fields in which it is possible to have control and monitoring of variables such as water flow, which gives a plus and bringing the digital era to another level where society is increasingly benefited. This research project shows how a novel telemetry system has been developed and implemented for the control and consumption of drinking water in residences, based on Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN, in short, as it will be used hereinafter), which therefore uses a communication protocol and network architecture, with which it is possible to make communication links between IoT devices. This prototype was implemented in two residences located in Venezuela and Casimiro Nieto streets in Canton Rumiñahui. The system consists of an end node, gateway or concentrator, network server and application server; The final nodes or final devices are the sensors installed in each residence that measure the water flow, these measurements have been tested and calibrated together with the measurements emitted by the analog meters and performing a mathematical operation based on the data obtained from the water sheets in cubic meters, These data are then sent through the LoRaWAN architecture to a Gateway, data that are sent to the server using a bidirectional and light MQTT messaging protocol and then displayed on the Node-Red dashboard, where the water consumption graphs are shown in real time. The system establishes communication with the MySQL database hosted on Google Cloud Platform with which management and monitoring is possible.Item type:Ítem, Revisión sistemática de literatura de sistemas Deep Learning para navegación autónoma(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Initially, a study was carried out on the current state of the difficulties that visually impaired athletes are exposed to when doing any sport, and thanks to the advancement of artificial vision in the different application areas, an electronic system based on hardware and software that allows the long jump training process to be carried out, in such a way that the athlete can be monitored and controlled, avoiding complications and injuries during training. The main objective of the electronic training system is based on the processing of images, these images depend on deep learning (Deep Learning), which reaches different levels of hierarchical details, so that the information that flows upwards is united, creating abstractions. and higher and more complex representations. For example, with digital images, pixels are combined into edges, edges into outlines, outlines into shapes, and finally shapes into objects. Obtaining as a result the recognition of the long jump track and the athletes in it. The system consists of 3 stages, the first stage of image acquisition, consisting of the sony wcx550 webcam that allows obtaining images in real time. In the second stage, processing, stable results were obtained, thanks to the use of a Raspberry Pi B3+ single-board computer, which processes the information obtained in the image acquisition stage and helps to detect people, contour detection and data management for the alert management stage. The system sends detection alerts for presence on the runway, alerts for the jump performed and stores the number of tests performed. The system will provide security and confidence, at the time of training, both to the athlete with visual impairment, and to the coach.Item type:Ítem, Ultrasonido industrial aplicado en ensayos no destructivos para la evaluación de integridad mecánica de líneas y/o recipientes a precisión en la industria petrolera(Universidad Técnica de Ambato.
