INTELIGENCIA EMOCIONAL Y ADAPTACIÓN SOCIAL EN ADOLESCENTES
(2025-03-05) Jácome Carvajal, Joselyn Paola; Rodríguez Pérez, Mayra Lucía; Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Psicología Clínica
Adolescence is a stage of multiple biopsychosocial challenges. Emotional intelligence is considered as the ability to recognize and understand one's own emotions and those of others. Likewise, social adaptation implies the ability to form positive relationships, comply with social norms and expectations. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and social adaptation in adolescents aged 12 to 18 years. A quantitative approach with a non-experimental design and correlational scope was used. The Bar-On Emotional Intelligence Inventory: youth version was used to assess emotional intelligence, and the Self-Applied Social Adaptation Scale (SASS) was used to assess social adaptation. The results indicated that in both variables the adequate level predominated: 64.4% in emotional intelligence and 88.1% in social adaptation, there is no statistically significant difference between the mean of males M=78.1 and females M=79.1 (U=1135, p>0.05) and there is no significant correlation between the two variables in this group of adolescents (Rho=0.127, p>0.05). This suggests that the levels of emotional intelligence remain independent in the face of social adaptation, which implies that they are not directly related in this study.

(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Psicología Clínica, 2023-03-01) Mariño Córdova, Lady Azucena; Vargas Espín, Alba del Pilar Psi. Cl. Mg.
After the COVID-19 pandemic, the important role that mental health plays on a personal and collective level became evident. Humanitarian or health personnel have been especially affected by extreme conditions of exposure to stressful events, and the response to them can be unspecific in the organism, causing physical, cognitive, and emotional alterations; thus, the objective of this research is to determine the relationship between stress and emotional regulation in the personnel of the Ecuadorian Red Cross. The methodology used was a crosssectional correlational-descriptive type, the population consisted of 140 volunteers and contracted personnel from two branches in the center of the country, aged between 18 and 50 years; the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-14) and the Emotional Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) were used, this test consists of two subscales: cognitive re-evaluation and expressive suppression. The results indicated a correlation between stress and the expressive suppression dimension (Rho=0.001, p<0.005), while there is no correlation between stress and cognitive reappraisal (Rho=0.267, p>0.005); in conclusion, the greater the expressive suppression, the higher the level of stress.

For the selection of the study population, the sample formula was applied, resulting in a total of 186 people (127 women and 59 men), aged between 18 and 28 years. They were applied the Ellis Irrational Belief Test in order to know what is the predominant irrational idea they have and how it affects their daily lives, in addition to the Scale of Resilience of Wagnild and Young identifying the degree of resilience of each person. For the data analysis, the SPSS statistical program was taken as a reference through the Chi-square, where the results indicated the relationship between both variables, since the individuals who had an average level of irrationality also had a high resilient capacity, while people who possessed a high level of irrationality had a low level of resilience.
