Item Estrés académico y somatización en estudiantes universitarios(2025-07-01) Castro Villacrés, Cristina Daniela; García Ramos, Diana Carolina, Ps.Cl.Mg.; Universidad Técnica de Ambato / Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud / Carrera de Psicología ClínicaAcademic stress is defined as a psychological response that appears when the demands of the educational environment exceed the coping resources of the student, causing somatic symptoms that cause physical and emotional discomfort. The present study aimed to determine the relationship between academic stress and somatization. In addition to evaluating the level of academic stress, assessing the level of somatization and comparing the level of somatization according to gender. The study presents a quantitative, descriptive, correlational, nonexperimental and cross-sectional approach. A total of 154 Biochemistry and Pharmacy students were evaluated. Two psychological instruments were used, the SISCO SV-21 to evaluate academic stress and the PHQ-15 to measure the level of somatization. The results showed that there is a moderate positive correlation (r = 0.568) between the two proposed variables. Inaddition, 72.1% presented a moderate level of academic stress, while 47.4% of the sample presented a high level of somatization. Finally, significant differences were found in terms of sex (p = .001), with women reporting higher levels of somatization
