    In Tungurahua province, in Ambato canton, Ambato river is located, one of the main Tributaries to national level, its water is used for various activities such as: irrigation and industries, etc. This Tributary presents a volume variation in its waters depending on the time of year, with periods of drought and water floods. Also, there are civil works along the river, for these a study of the hydraulic behavior of the Ambato River was relevant. The study of this river was carried out in the section between the Tilulún sector and the Las Viñas sector from km 8+00 to km 12+00, considering a length of 4 km. In the development of this project, various activities were carried out to collect: topographic and hydrological data. The information was then processed in the softwares: ArcGIS, HECGeoRAS and HEC-RAS. In the last program, the simulation of the flow in the River was carried out based on a mathematical model, where the different scenarios were studied. This project showed some results, for example; the behavior of the flow in the River for different return periods (years); with this, the places with flood zones were analyzed, where the construction of water storage and control works is necessary. The main characteristics of the river, the speed, the numbers of Froude and shear forces etc. were also evaluated. In addition, problems were found in the surrounding structures such as: bridges and with these, security measures will be applied to maintain and preserve them.

    Caracterización del comportamiento hidráulico del Río Ambato en el tramo comprendido entre el sector de Tilulún y el sector de las Viñas desde el KM 0+00 al 4+00 mediante un modelo matemático

    This investigation is part of a macro project to know the hydraulic characteristics of 20 kilometers of the Ambato River. The first 4 kilometers from the Tilulun drinking water treatment plant were analyzed. Topographic data was obtained from the Honorable Provincial Government of Tungurahua to generate the geometry, cross sections and terrain characteristics in the ArcGIS program. The flows were provided by the Tilulun station over 17 years. In these data, the Chauvenet Criterion was applied to have the uniform sample, as well as the Gumbel Method obtaining the flow of 123,185 cubic meters per second and a return period of 261.20 years. The model was calibrated in the HecRAS Software with a base flow of 5 cubic meters per second, to delimit the natural riverbed. Manning's coefficients were entered to indicate the roughness. With all of this, we seek to know the velocities, cutting effort, and areas of flooding that will be reached when there is a rise in the flow and the damage that it will produce, and to propose places for the creation of structures that will diminish the damage that can be produced along the Ambato River.

    Estudio de factibilidad de la etapa hidrológica para la implementación de una represa en la quebrada Santa Lucia del sector San José - La Dolorosa del cantón Tisaleo; provincia de Tungurahua

    In this technician work, the study of feasibility of the hydrological stage for the implementation of one dams in the sacred Santa Lucia of the sector san José - the painful of the canton tisaleo; county de Tungurahua The present work technician has as purpose to implement one it dams in the sector San José - The Painful of the Canton Tisaleo, with the purpose of providing from a permanent flow to the users that will be benefitted; in turn it is sought to apply this project to other sectors of the Canton that you/they need of the I liquidate vital. For the realization of this study they were considered the hydrological information of two meteorological stations applying: the rational Method modified to determine the variation of the flows in relation to the time, the volumetric method to measure the time in which will take a long time in filling the it dams, as for the intensities a statistical adjustment was applied by means of the values extreme type I or Gumbel and Log-Pearson type III; and in turn, it was used the you formulate of the INAMHI, to check the dependability of the usedThe flows of grown generated based on the intensities of the INAMHI are capable to supply the flood areas of it dams it; the same ones that are designed in the software HecRas.     Alternativas de diseño de un puente sobre el río Pita para mejorar las condiciones socio-económicas y de tráfico en la Av. Ilaló, sector del Valle de los Chillos; provincia de Pichincha

    En Ecuador se lleva a cabo el mejoramiento de la infraestructura vial y modernización de puentes, de tal manera que las entidades encargadas de ejecutar dichos trabajos contemplen la planificación de varios proyectos. Como es el caso de la Empresa Metropolitana de Movilidad y Obras Públicas de Quito que tiene prevista la ejecución de una nueva infraestructura para el Puente sobre el río Pita ubicado en la Avenida Ilaló, cuya nueva infraestructura se prevé sea de cuatro carriles de circulación vehicular en referencia a la actual que es de dos. Se plantea el análisis de dos alternativas para el proyecto del Puente sobre el río Pita de 26m de luz, la primera alternativa consiste una estructura mixta; tablero de hormigón armado y vigas metálicas. La segunda alternativa en un puente tablero de hormigón armado y vigas de hormigón preesforzado,de la cual se realiza un análisis independiente de las vigas. La infraestructura consiste en muros en volado de hormigón armado. El diseño estructural se fundamenta en las especificaciones AASHTO parta el de diseño de puentes por el método LRFD, en el cual se obtiene un alto nivel de seguridad sometido a condiciones severas y presencia de cargas dinámicas. La selección de la alternativa eficiente se enmarca en la comparación de los factores económicos, técnicos y constructivos, tomando en cuenta un factor muy importante que es el esviajamiento de la estructura debido a la configuración del terreno. De estos factores se determina que la alternativa eficiente para el puente sobre el río Pita es la alternativa conformada por una estructura mixta.
