Item Influencia de la acción sísmica vertical en edificaciones de hormigón armado ubicados en la ciudad de Ambato(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2020-09) Maldonado Vallejo, Gabriel Alexander; Suquillo Ronquillo, Betzabeth JesseniaThis research analyzed the influence of the vertical earthquake component on regular concrete structures, the analysis group consists of 2 reinforced concrete structures, one of twelve and other of four floors, these were analyzed in soils C, D and E obtaining a total of 18 models, all these in the city of Ambato. The predesign of the structural elements was carried out and it was modeled using the Etabs software applying the non-linear design according to the NEC 15 to verify that the different models comply with the checks of our Ecuadorian standard. After that, a comparison was made in which the results of three analyses were presented, the first without considering the effects of the vertical component, second considering the recommendation of the NEC SE DS 15 which indicates that the vertical acceleration is two-thirds of the horizontal acceleration and the last using real vertical acceleration using the Ambato microzoning study and ASCE 7-16. It was concluded that the vertical component of the earthquake has no great influence on displacements, shears and floor drifts otherwise it is directly affecting structural elements such as columns and beams duplicating the axial load on some columns and increasing the deflections in cantilever beams. It was also determined that the ratio of two-thirds underestimates the vertical effects in cities near seismic failures.
