    “Preferencia del tratamiento convencional frente al tratamiento con plantas medicinales en los adultos mayores en la provincia Cotopaxi, cantón Pujilí, barrio San Juan”

    The present investigation had like general objective: To analyze the preferences of the conventional treatment in front of the treatment with medicinal plants that the older adults have in the Cotopaxi Province, Canton Pujilí, Barrio San Juan. The use of medicinal plants has become a relevant issue worldwide because of this; that the project is based on descriptive, quantitative, field and bibliographical research. Same that we worked with a universe of 114 older adults, the instrument applied to data collection was the survey whose form is made up of 22 closed questions. The analysis of obtained data was processed through the Microsoft Excel program in order to represent them in percentages and in simple tables for their respective analysis and interpretation. The study concluded that there is a preference in the treatment with medicinal plants in 74.9% to treat their conditions in acute problems due to its easy accessibility when acquiring medicinal plants since nature provides, in addition to being directly linked with the knowledge ancestral and the use of medicinal plants, with a quick cure and even has no side effects in the body. However, older adults use conventional medicine to treat chronic conditions in 25.1%. This treatment exerts its immediate action when the drug comes into contact with the organism in such a way that the person feels a great improvement. It is recommended that more research be done to determine the multiple benefits of medicinal plants in order to strengthen the knowledge of the population
