Item Eficacia de la actividad antimicrobiana in vitro de la savia microencapsulada de pseudotallo de banano orito (Musa acuminata Grupo AA) contra patógenos causantes de endometritis bovina(Universidad Técnica de Ambato Carrera de Medicina Veterinaria, 2026-07) Chafla Huatatoca, Cristofer Leonel; Vargas Ortiz, Luis MiguelBovine endometritis is a frequent reproductive disease during the postpartum period, associated with reduced fertility, increased days open, and economic losses in cattle production systems. The continuous use of antibiotics has raised concerns about antimicrobial resistance and the presence of antimicrobial residues in meat and milk, which has encouraged the search for natural alternatives with antibacterial potential. This study aimed to determine the in vitro antimicrobial activity of microencapsulated pseudostem sap from orito banana (Musa acuminata AA Group) against pathogens associated with bovine endometritis. Uterine samples were collected from 20 postpartum cows using the cytobrush technique and cultured on blood agar and MacConkey agar. Bacterial identification was performed using Gram staining and biochemical tests. In addition, qualitative phytochemical screening, agar diffusion assays, minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) assays were performed. The phytochemical analysis revealed the presence of flavonoids, anthraquinones, tannins, and saponins. The isolates were Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Staphylococcus epidermidis. In the agar diffusion test, the microencapsulated sap did not produce inhibition zones. However, in liquid medium, a reduction in absorbance was observed at concentrations of 15 % and 20 %, mainly against Gram-positive bacteria. These findings suggest that the microencapsulated sap of Musa acuminata AA Group showed a concentration- dependent inhibitory activity in broth, despite the absence of inhibition zones in agar with a greater effect against Staphylococcus spp., and may represent a natural candidate for further research.Item Evaluación de la actividad antimicrobiana del aceite esencial microencapsulado de Hierba Luisa (Cymbopogon citratus) sobre bacterias Gram positivas aisladas de piel de conejo (Oryctolagus cuniculus)(2024-02) Jaramillo Panimboza, Katherine Salomé; Cruz Quintana, Sandra MargaritaThe objective of the research was to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of the microencapsulated essential oil of Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) on Grampositive bacteria isolated from rabbit skin (Oryctolagus cuniculus), two Gram-positive bacteria (Paenibacillus profundus and Staphylococcus succinus) were molecularly identified using a 16s marker, the agar diffusion method in wells to measure antimicrobial activity, determined that the two bacterial strains did not form halos of inhibition, the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) in liquid medium was determined at 5% for the P. profundus strain with an optical density of 0.251, with respect to the S. succinus strain it was established that at 25% concentration of the oil there was bacterial growth at an optical density of 0.487, the colony forming units (CFU) for the S. succinus strain were determined at 15% of the oil concentration, with an average range of 2.00 CFU, being the best treatment, while for the P. profundus bacteria it was established from 15%, 20% and 25%, as it does not exist in any of them. the growth of UFC.
