    Diseño de sistemas de oclusión aplicados al vestuario folclórico de las coreografías Ñustas y Fiñashka del Grupo Folklórico Tungurahua

    Clothing in folk dance fulfills both an aesthetic and cultural role; however, in the Tungurahua Folkloric Group, its functional performance shows limitations related to fastening systems, affecting autonomy, safety, and efficiency in stage use. The traditional garments used in the Ñustas and Fiñashca choreographies incorporate mechanisms such as ties, safety pins, and clasps, which require precise handling, generate dependence on external assistance, and extend dressing and costume-change times. The project was developed using a qualitative approach through interviews with directors and dancers, focus groups, and observation and garment analysis sheets. Additionally, a User-Centered Design (UCD) methodology was applied, along with an experimental phase of fastening systems in textile prototypes, evaluating their performance in terms of fit, safety, ergonomics, and usage time. The findings show that the main issue does not lie in the symbolic value of the costume, but in the inefficiency of its fastening systems, which condition the dancer’s performance on stage. A significant improvement in functionality was identified when more efficient fastening systems were incorporated, offering greater stability and ease of manipulation. Finally, a design proposal for fastening systems applied to the Tungurahua Folkloric Group’s costumes was developed, aimed at optimizing use, reducing dressing times, and improving user autonomy without altering the cultural identity of the garments

    The company Fajas Renova designs, manufactures, and markets post-surgical and postpartum shapewear related to healthcare. It began operations in 2011 and has enjoyed a successful track record. It is currently developing innovative proposals, which is why it is important to continue innovating and expanding into new market segments. In this regard, this integrative project is part of new proposals for the postpartum line, in this case introducing proposals aimed at surgical postpartum care to expand the range of products currently available and to serve a growing population group. To this end, research techniques such as interviews with clothing designers, surveys of women who had given birth by C-section, and focus groups with obstetricians were used, which determined that women's priorities at this stage are abdominal support, a feeling of security, and the use of materials that are soft against the skin, such as polyamide, cotton, and powernet. This was supported by interviews as the main source of information for this type of garment, which should provide compression and allow women to feel comfortable. With this information, a collection of underwear for these women was proposed through user-centered design. The research led to the establishment of the corresponding requirements, the proposal of a collection with the development of outfits, and the application of colors used by the brand. Subsequently, an evaluation was carried out with the users to analyze with them the functionality of the proposals aimed at the company.
