Item Incorporación del colorante natural de la semilla de achiote (Bixa orellana) para el diseño de prendas para la empresa Modas María Angélica(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE DISEÑO TEXTIL E INDUMENTARIA, 2025-07-28) Sepa Guingla Esthela Pamela; Betancourt Chávez Diego Gustavo; UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE DISEÑO TEXTIL E INDUMENTARIAThis project focuses on the creation of garments for the company Modas María Angélica, integrating the natural dye of the achiote seed (Bixa orellana). This initiative seeks to incorporate natural dyes in the design of garments, promoting ecological practices and expanding creative possibilities through artisanal dyeing techniques in order to meet the needs of consumers committed to sustainability and the environment. The study of achiote seed dyeing and artisanal techniques is important given the growing demand for sustainable products seeking to rescue and revalue artisanal knowledge, contributing to the exploration of alternatives to synthetic dyes determined by the versatility of achiote, already used in cosmetics, food and medicine, extends to clothing to attract an environmentally conscious public. For the development of the design proposal, a process of experimentation with the achiote seed was carried out based on the information collected in interviews with textile and clothing designers and textile engineers with knowledge in the area of dyeing, which allowed us to determine the feasibility of the natural dye extracted from the achiote seed, as well as an external and internal analysis of the company through which a segment of female customers from 35 to 45 years of age was obtained, with whom the design preferences were established through focus groups for the development of the casual collection called “Travesía cromática” with the incorporation of the achiote seed dye under the brand “Macayai”, satisfying the consumer's demands.
