This research, entitled "Artisan Techniques and the Tourism Experience in the Tisaleo Canton," was developed with the objective of investigating the relationship between artisan techniques and the tourism experience in the Tisaleo Canton. The importance of this study lies in the need to adapt existing artisan techniques in the Tisaleo Canton to a tourism experience in order to promote tourism development, the dissemination of ancestral knowledge and wisdom, and economic improvement for artisans. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach, utilizing instruments such as the A5 sheets of traditional artisan techniques from the National Institute of Cultural Heritage and the checklist, which allowed for direct information gathering from the canton's artisans regarding artisan techniques. The results show that, despite limitations such as the lack of tourism planning and promotion, cultural tourism has contributed significantly to the economy of the canton's inhabitants, the valorization of cultural identity, and tourism development. In conclusion, experiential tourism is a viable means of local development, provided it is complemented by workshops, training for artisans, support from state institutions, and strategies for improved tourism development and performance.

The main objective of this research is to analyze the relationship between handicraft techniques and rural tourism in the Otavalo canton, to make visible the role of Otavalo women. The methodology used was qualitative, with a transversal non-experimental design and a research scope. The instruments used were the INPC's A5 cards of traditional handicraft techniques and a questionnaire of ten open-ended questions. The results obtained show that Otavalo women have been the main preservers of the traditional handicraft techniques used in the handicrafts that are most characteristic of the Otavalo canton. These Otavaleña women are the main guardians of ancestral knowledge, transmitted orally and from generation to generation, which ensures the continuity of these crafts of great cultural value. The interviews were conducted with tourism experts from Otavalo GAD to gather information on the characteristics of the dimensions of rural tourism in the canton. It was concluded that the central role of Otavalo women in the preservation of handicraft techniques and the cultural and natural wealth of the canton has been one of the main reasons for tourists to visit. Despite the disorganized tourism planning, Otavaleña women are key to keeping the culture and traditions alive.

(Universidad Técnica de Ambato-Facultad de Ciencias Humanas y de la educación -Carrera de Turismo, 2025-07-04) Llumitaxi Cajas Esthela Monserrath; Toledo Villacis Marco Antonio; Universidad Técnica de Ambato-Facultad de Ciencias Humanas y de la educación -Carrera de Turismo
The present research work entitled “Artisan Techniques and Experiential Tourism in the San Miguelito parish, Píllaro canton” was carried out with the objective of identifying the artisan techniques still existing and determining the potential of experiential tourism within the parish. A qualitative approach methodology was used with an inductive method under a non-experimental design of transversal type using a phenomenological scope and a non-probabilistic sampling of intentional or opinionated type. Two types of instruments were used for data collection: CPI A5 cards for the independent variable and a structured interview with open-ended questions for the dependent variable; as a result of the INPC files, it was possible to identify four traditional craft techniques that are still preserved by the luthier artisans and as a result of the interview it has been possible to establish that the potential of possible experiential tourism within the parish would be very beneficial since there is a high rate of advantages. The conclusion is that there is no informative material that incites experiential tourism within the parish that focuses on the workshops for the creation of handcrafted instruments, therefore the proposal is to create a digital informative guide that shows the richness of the parish and the importance of documenting the knowledge of the luthier artisans for the preservation of this cultural legacy.
