Item Estéticas e ideologías en los cómics de Superman. The new ideal of the American way of life(2024-08) Ortiz Vaca, Eduardo Mateo; Brito Alvarado, Leonardo XavierSuperhero stories told in comic books have had a great cultural and social impact, monopolizing the entertainment and show business industries such as comics, movies and television. The narrative genre of superheroes refers to a set of stories focused on ethical and moral values, so that people can reflect themselves as part of a society. The main objective of this research is to identify an ideological perspective in Superman comics, which is used to manipulate and alter the thoughts of readers, thus creating ideals about a lifestyle that can only be achieved in the United States. For this, the comics were segmented into four fundamental contexts: the beginnings of Superman, the Second World War, the Cold War and a contemporary era, four important moments to understand how capitalism is transmitted to the world through these narratives, and how they take advantage of world events to transmit their ideology and culture. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the importance of Superman and his stories in these historical contexts, because comics have been an important tool for power to persuade people's thoughts in its favor. It all starts from a debate about American capitalism and how it exposes itself to the world through entertainment, sharing with comic book readers the values, culture, and the stigma of the American capitalismItem Narrativas, representaciones y crítica del capitalismo en la serie televisiva “El Juego del Calamar(Universidad Tècnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Comunicaciòn, 2024-08) Hernández López, Odalis Anahí; Tamayo Rodríguez, Alicia PaulinaThis study focuses on analyzing the narratives, representations and critiques of capitalism present in the Netflix series "The Squid Game" (2021). In a context where capitalism has found in cultural industries, such as streaming platforms, an effective way to expand globally, this research proposes to understand the messages that the series transmits through its dialogues and images and how they present " The Squid Game" as a space not only for entertainment for those who watch it, but also criticizes the dynamics of contemporary capitalism, since the series reveals how the economic system subjects individuals to situations where they are dehumanized, turning them into pawns. In a sinister game, it also allows audiovisual productions to be approached as a reflection on the social and economic sphere that they present daily. The research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach to examine the capitalist discourses present in the series, which is based on a theoretical and practical analysis, where undergraduate and graduate theses were used as a reference point, as well as an exhaustive bibliographic review that provides the theoretical framework. necessary with authors such as César Bolaños, Omar Rincón, Guy Debord and Jesús Martín-Barbero, who are fundamental in the methodological construction, since they provide criticism of capitalism that enriches the understanding of the dynamics represented in the series. The discourse analysis in "The Squid Game" focuses on understanding how the series addresses the crises of capitalism at an individual and collective level. With this approach, the actions of the characters and events can be interpreted within the contemporary global socioeconomic context to thus being able to contribute to the understanding of how contemporary audiovisual narratives can function as tools for social criticism and reflection on the economic systems that dominate the worldItem La Casa de Papel y las narraciones geopolíticas del capitalismo(Universidad Tècnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Comunicaciòn, 2024-08) Flores Ramos, Mauricio Alejandro; Proaño Zurita, Jenny De Los ÁngelesWithout a doubt, the political and economic model of capitalism has a significant component in media seduction, as Max Horkheimer and Theodor Adorno (1998) proposed in the cultural industries. This is how the audiovisual industries create powerful communicational products intended to seduce the population within the imaginaries of capitalism. However, among these productions, there are several aimed at creating a critique of capitalism without losing the element of seduction, such as the Netflix series La Casa de Papel (2017), which denounces banking abuses, the geopolitical situations the world faces, and the economic policies of states. It creates a story where the robbers become the heroes and the governments the culprits, giving a twist to the narrative. Research in audiovisual narratives is necessary not only to understand the quantity of stories present but also to analyze the discourses within them to reflect on the societies we inhabit. Hence the interest in investigating these seductive narratives present in TV and streaming series. This research is significant and relevant due to the lack of internal analysis given to the content consumed, where the internal meaning is not examined. In this case, direct messages criticizing capitalism are analyzed. The objectives allow for an extensive and deeper analysis of the series through chosen variables such as political Manichaeism and all that geopolitical context entails. The methodology, through narrative analysis and the aid of matrices, allows for a graphical analysis, detecting symbols. On the other hand, the narrative is analyzed through contexts and dialogues, including flashbacks and the series' songs, which, upon analysis, reveal that these elements also carry messages and critiques
