Abstract
The main objective of this research was to establish the importance of the
implementation of metalinguistic skills in the learning of reading and writing in
elementary school students. The study was carried out with a sample of 60 students
belonging to the third and fourth levels of elementary school, using the Illinois and
Ricardo Olea tests, which were used to evaluate the dependent and independent
variables. The methodology used was descriptive, exploratory and correlational. The
results obtained reflected the incidence of the use of metalinguistic strategies in the
development of reading and writing, especially in individuals in the first years of
academic training, given the fact that the strategies mentioned have a significant
impact on the learning of the linguistic areas of children, it is appropriate to affirm
that the implementation of a methodology that addresses the elements mentioned is
favorable for teachers and students at the time of teaching and learning the
established curricular contents. Therefore, the research validated the alternative
hypothesis established, which is that metalinguistic strategies do influence reading
and writing.

La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo principal establecer la importancia de la
implementación de habilidades metalingüísticas en el aprendizaje de la lectoescritura
en estudiantes de básica elemental, fue realizado con una muestra de 60 estudiantes
pertenecientes a tercer y cuarto nivel de Básica Elemental, el estudio se realizó con la
aplicación de los instrumentos Test de Illinois y Ricardo Olea, encargados de la
evaluación de las variables dependiente e independiente. La metodología empleada
fue descriptiva, exploratoria y correlacional. Los resultados obtenidos reflejaron la
incidencia de la utilización de las estrategias metalingüísticas en el desarrollo de la
lectoescritura especialmente en individuos en primeros años de formación académica,
dado el caso que las estrategias mencionadas tienen un impacto significativo para el
aprendizaje de las áreas lingüísticas de los niños, es adecuado afirmar que la
implementación de una metodología que aborde los elementos mencionados es
favorable para los docentes y estudiantes al momento de impartir y aprender los
contenidos curriculares establecidos. Por lo tanto la investigación valido la hipótesis
alterna establecida, la cual es que las estrategias metalingüísticas si influyen en la
lectoescritura.
