Abstract
This research makes an iconographic analysis of the presentation posters of Sol de
Noviembre in Ambato city in the period 2014 – 2024. The aim is to create criteria for a
deeper reading of the cultural expressions shown in the posters. The research answers the
lack of visual recognition of these expressions in the graphic materials shared the public.
Using a deductive-inductive method and a qualitative approach, interviews were
done with professionals in design and culture. Also, it was supplemented with an
iconographic analysis of the posters. The results show the constantly use of two popular
cultural expressions, the ergonomic esthetic and social. The posters give more importance
to artistic expressions and leave out other symbolic elements that are also important for
the community. As a recommendation, it is suggested to use the established templates to
protect and share the cultural expressions shown in the posters.

La presente investigación realiza un análisis iconográfico de los afiches de
presentación del Sol de Noviembre en la ciudad de Ambato, durante el periodo 2014-
2024, con el objetivo de establecer criterios que permitan una lectura más profunda de las
manifestaciones culturales representadas. La investigación responde a la falta de
reconocimiento visual de estas expresiones en los materiales gráficos difundidos.
A través de una metodología de tipo deductivo-inductivo y un enfoque cualitativo,
se aplicaron entrevistas a profesionales del diseño y la cultura, complementadas con un
análisis semiótico-iconográfico de los afiches. Los resultados evidencian una constante
representación de manifestaciones culturales populares ergológicas estéticas y sociales,
priorizando las expresiones artísticas mientras se dejan de lado otros elementos simbólicos
importantes para la comunidad. Como recomendación se plantea usar las fichas
establecidas para preservar y difundir las manifestaciones culturales representadas en los
afiches.
