USO DEL CIGARRILLO ELECTRÓNICO Y RIESGO DE PADECER ENFERMEDADES RESPIRATORIAS EN ADOLESCENTES Y ADULTOS JÓVENES

Abstract
Objective: Determine the type of respiratory diseases due to the use of electronic
cigarettes in adolescents and young adults. Materials and methods: The study is
a documentary type of descriptive scope, based on the analysis of complete
scientific articles in databases such as: PubMed, Scopus and SciELO using the
PRISMA method, in the period 2018-2023, in the English and Spanish languages.
Spanish. Results: 95 scientific articles were obtained, of which a total of 75 were
excluded for not meeting the inclusion criteria, leaving only 20 scientific articles
that respond to the stated objectives, highlighting the author, year, country,
journal, title. of the article, type of study, objectives and results, the same ones
that described the respiratory diseases, signs and symptoms that accompany
them due to the consumption of electronic cigarettes in adolescents and young
adults. Conclusions: This study identified the risks of suffering from respiratory
diseases due to the use of electronic cigarettes, among the most relevant of
which we find COPD, pneumonia, E-VALY, respiratory distress syndrome,
pulmonary hypertension and asthma, in addition to being accompanied by signs
and symptoms such as infection of the airways, as well as the development of
cardiovascular and gastrointestinal diseases and the beginning of addictions, it
was identified that the male sex is the predominant one in exposing itself more to
the risk of respiratory diseases and the age ranges between 14 to 35 years,
becoming a public health problem that is increasing every year.
Description
Objetivo: Determinar el tipo de enfermedades respiratorias por el uso del
cigarrillo electrónico en adolescentes y adultos jóvenes. Materiales y métodos:
El estudio es de tipo documental de alcance descriptivo, basada en el análisis de
artículos científicos completos en bases de datos como: PubMed, Scopus y
SciELO utilizando el método PRISMA, en el periodo 2018-2023, en los idiomas
inglés y español. Resultados: Se obtuvo 95 artículos científicos, de los cuales se
excluyeron un total de 75 por no cumplir con los criterios de inclusión, quedando
seleccionado solo 20 artículos científicos que responden a los objetivos
planteados, resaltando el autor, año, país, revista, titulo del artículo, tipo de
estudio, objetivos y resultados los mismos que describieron las enfermedades
respiratorias, signos y síntomas que lo acompañan a causa del consumo del
cigarrillo electrónico en adolescentes y adultos jóvenes. Conclusiones: Este
estudio identificó los riesgos de padecer enfermedades respiratorias por el uso
del cigarrillo electrónico entre las más relevantes encontramos EPOC,
neumonías, E-VALY, Síndrome de distrés respiratorio, hipertensión pulmonar y
asma, además de acompañarse de signos y síntomas como infección de las vías
aéreas, así también el desarrollo de enfermedades y cardiovasculares,
gastrointestinales y el inicio de adicciones, se identificó que el sexo masculino
es el predominante en exponerse más al riesgo de enfermedades respiratorias y
la edad oscila entre los 14 a 35 años, convirtiéndose en un problema de salud
pública que cada año va en aumento.
