Abstract
In recent decades, various factors have given rise to myths, beliefs and taboos
regarding the management of breastfeeding (BF), which are associated with the
abandonment of BF in the most important months for the child's development.
Therefore, the objective of this work was to carry out a comparative analysis
between the perceptions and what the scientific community indicates regarding
the beliefs, taboos and myths in relation to breastfeeding, in mothers from the
Tisaleo canton, province of Tungurahua, to know the different experiences and
promote adequate education through an informative blog. The methodology used
a qualitative approach, with a descriptive and cross-sectional scope, for which
mothers who were breastfeeding were considered, regardless of age. The
instrument used was the semi-structured interview by categories, taken from
Demazière and Dubar. The results show that there are still mothers who maintain
beliefs, taboos and myths about BF, due to misinformation and lack of verification
of their traditions. It is concluded that the majority of mothers reproduce beliefs,
myths or taboos transmitted by their relatives in an intergenerational way, being,
in general, erroneous and negative ideas about BF.

En los últimos decenios, diversos factores han dado lugar a mitos, creencias y
tabúes respecto del manejo de la lactancia materna (LM), los cuales se asocian
al abandono de la LM en los meses más importantes para el desarrollo del niño.
Por ello, el objetivo del presente trabajo fue realizar un análisis comparativo entre
las percepciones y lo que indica la comunidad científica respecto a las creencias ,
tabúes y mitos en relación con la lactancia materna, en madres del cantón
Tisaleo, provincia de Tungurahua, para conocer las distintas experiencias y
promover una adecuada educación a través de un blog informativo.La
metodología empleó un enfoque cualitativo, con alcance descriptivo y
transversal, para lo cual se consideró a las madres que se encontraban dando
de lactar, independientemente de la edad. El instrumento empleado fue la
entrevista semiestructurada por categorías, tomada de Demazière y Dubar. L os
resultados demuestran que, aún existen madres que mantienen creencias,
tabúes y mitos sobre la LM, debido a la desinformación y falta de contrastación
de sus tradiciones. Se concluye que, la mayoría de las madres reproducen
creencias, mitos o tabúes transmitidas por sus familiares de forma
intergeneracional, siendo, por lo general, ideas erróneas y negativas sobre la
LM.
