| dc.description | The main objective of this study was to determine the effectiveness of experiential learning to improve oral skills in students of the first semester of the PINE program at the Technical University of Ambato. A quantitative approach and experimental design were used to evaluate the impact of experiential learning on the development of linguistic and communicative skills. The sample consisted of 47 students selected to participate in the study due to their relevance to the research topic and their accessibility for data collection. For data collection, specific techniques and tools were used. Pre- and post-tests designed to measure linguistic skills were applied before and after the intervention with experiential learning. Additionally, a structured survey was implemented that included 20 questions with 5-point Likert scales, intended to evaluate the frequency and perceived effectiveness of experiential learning activities. The results revealed significant improvements in key areas such as grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and interactive communication after the implementation of experiential learning. A notable decrease was observed in the percentage of students at lower levels of language proficiency, with a corresponding increase at intermediate levels, suggesting an improvement in the understanding and application of language elements, as well as a greater ability to participate in conversations.in English. Ultimately, the findings support the effectiveness of experiential learning in improving both language proficiency and broader communication skills among students in the PINE program. | dc.description.abstract | El objetivo principal de este estudio fue determinar la efectividad del aprendizaje experiencial para mejorar las habilidades orales en estudiantes del primer semestre del programa PINE en la Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Se empleó un enfoque cuantitativo y un diseño experimental para evaluar el impacto del aprendizaje experiencial en el desarrollo de competencias lingüísticas y comunicativas. La muestra consistió en 47 estudiantes seleccionados para participar en el estudio debido a su relevancia para el tema de investigación y su accesibilidad para la recolección de datos. Para la recolección de datos, se utilizaron técnicas y herramientas específicas. Se aplicaron pruebas pre y postest diseñadas para medir las habilidades lingüísticas antes y después de la intervención con aprendizaje experiencial. Además, se implementó una encuesta estructurada que incluyó 20preguntas con escalas de Likert de 5 puntos, destinada a evaluar la frecuencia y la percepción de la efectividad de las actividades de aprendizaje experiencial. Los resultados revelaron mejoras significativas en áreas clave como gramática, vocabulario, pronunciacióny comunicación interactiva después de la implementación del aprendizaje experiencial. Se observó una disminución notable en el porcentaje de estudiantes en niveles inferiores de competencia lingüística, con un correspondiente aumento en los niveles intermedios, lo quesugiere una mejora en la comprensión y aplicación de elementos del idioma, así como una mayor habilidad para participar en conversaciones en inglés. En definitiva, los hallazgos respaldan la eficacia del aprendizaje experiencial para mejorar tanto la competencia lingüística como las habilidades de comunicación más amplias entre los estudiantes del programa PINE. Se recomienda continuar integrando estrategias de aprendizaje experiencial en el currículo para fomentar un aprendizaje más efectivo y significativo en contextos de enseñanza de idiomas | es_ES |
