Abstract
Los cuentos populares son narraciones que se consideran verdades eternas, se las transmiten de una manera oral e informal, estos ayudan a comprender las tradiciones de las personas, de esta forma se busca que los niños obtengan un mejor conocimiento acerca de la caracterización de la Mama Negra, porque al paso de los años se ha ido desnaturalizando su esencia y por ende su historia. Su objetivo es analizar los beneficios del cuento popular en la caracterización de la Mama Negra para los niños de Educación Inicial del Subnivel II. La investigación se realizó con un enfoque cualitativo, un paradigma socio-critico, de tipo básica o pura, su diseño investigación acción en sus dos primeras fases, con el fin de hallar respuesta a los objetivos específicos, se realizaron entrevistas con una guía de preguntas abiertas validado por dos expertos, aplicado a docentes e historiadores de la ciudad de Latacunga, las respuestas recolectadas ayudaron para la creación de un cuento popular interactivo, también se tuvo a cabo un grupo focal con niños de Inicial II para identificar el conocimiento que tienen acerca de la Mama Negra, además se realizó una segunda técnica la cual es el análisis documental, donde se pudo recolectar contenido valioso para la investigación del proyecto. La información hallada con los niños del Subnivel II dieron a conocer que comprenden muy poco sobre la historia de la Mama Negra, es por ello que al utilizar un cuento popular ellos podrán tener un acercamiento más ameno con su cultura

Popular stories are narratives that are considered eternal truths, they are transmitted orally and informally, they help to understand people's traditions, in this way children are intended to obtain better knowledge about the characterization of the Mama Negra, because over the years its essence and therefore its history have been denatured. Its objective is to analyze the benefits of the popular story in the characterization of the Mama Negra for the children of Initial Education of Sublevel II. The research was carried out with a qualitative approach, a socio-critical paradigm, basic or pure, its action research design in its first two phases, in order to find an answer to the specific objectives, interviews were carried out with a guide of questions open validated by two experts, applied to teachers and historians of the city of Latacunga, the responses collected helped in the creation of an interactive popular story, a focus group was also carried out with children of Initial II to identify the knowledge they have about of Mama Negra, a second technique was also carried out which is documentary analysis, where valuable content could be collected for the research of the project. The information found with the children of Sublevel II revealed that they understand very little about the history of the Black Mama, which is why by using a popular story they will be able to have a more enjoyable approach to their culture.
